Are there any SEO case studies about the use of a third party to host content vs. hosting it yourself?
Namely, 3rd party content usually has a link back to the source on every page "Powered by..."
Conventional SEO wisdom says this wouldn't rank as well as the same content without those links on every page. Because those links serve to support the third party domain. I need proof (a blog post or article please).

it is better to have the links to your web site, from all over.
i have links to my web site, mostly from my clients, and mostly on one server. those links do not provide the same link juice.
