Is it true that the Wikimedia Foundation paid someone to check the race of 1,000 penises?

Supposedly, this was in the news --

Can we believe that, though? The guy sounds like a critic of Wikipedia, and I've been told that Wikipedia critics only lie, never tell the truth.

It looks legit. User:Robertmharris said he looked at thousands of images of penises on various Wikimedia projects. He strikes me as someone who wouldn't admit to doing that if he hadn't actually done it. (Heck, there are men who do that but wouldn't admit it).

And it makes sense. When you have thousands of dollars to spend, but don't want to spend them on what the donors would want you to spend it on (content, bandwidth, stuff like that), you have to spend it on something. Paying a crony to look at porn is as good an option as any.

No, Wikipedia paid someone to consult on the use of images.

No where was he paid directly for checking the race,

that was only 1 result. ( and taken totally out of context )

The context was to examine the images, and come up with a policy.

How may penises were made of marble done by ... say... Michelangelo?

The critic was just taking something out of context.

Like if I said, "I bought a Buffalo and the meat was rather tough, so I"

"took it home, and spent hours beating the meat."

Can you see the difference in context?

Some Wikipedia critics lie. Others tell the truth. You cannot just write them off, because they are a critic.

That is a vicious lie. You are correct to doubt all Wikipedia critics. Since they are all banned former users, anything they say is just a lie distorted by sour grapes. Wikipedia is always holy and infallible.
