What? Is it because I'm a MUSLIM?

A nun can be covered head to toe, to devote herself to God, right?

But then, when a Muslim woman does the same, why is she said to be 'oppressed'?

When a western/non-muslim woman satsy at home to look after her house and kids, she is respected by the entire society for her sacrifice.

But then, when a Muslim woman does the same, why is she said to be 'oppressed'?

Every girl can go to University, wearing what she wants and have her rights and freedom.

But when a Muslim girl enters, why do they prevent her from entering?

When a child dedicates himself to a subject, he has potential and talent.

But when he dedicates himself to learning Islam, he is said to be 'hopeless'?

When someone sacrifices himself to keep everyone safe, he is noble and everyone respects him.

But when a Palestinian does that to save his son from being killed, his brothers body being battered and borken, his mother wife and daughters from being raped, his home being destroyed, his mosque being violated...Why does he get the title 'terrorist'?!?

When a person of another faith besides Islam, murders someone, religion is not mentioned.

But when a Muslim is charged for a crime, why is it that Islam goes on trial?

When there is trouble, we accept any solution available, right?

However, if the solution lies in Islam, why do people refuse to take a look at it?

When someone drives a perfect car in an improper manner, no one blames the car

But when a Muslim makes a mistake, people say 'Islam is the reason!' ?!

Without giving a glance at the Quran, people believe what the Newspapers say -- but question what the Holy Quran says?!?

WHY??

IS IT BECAUSE I'M A MUSLIM?

'I am a Muslim

You kill me and call it

Collateral damage!

You imprison me

and call it

Security measure!

You execute my people en masse

and call it

New Middle East

You rob my resources, invade my land

alter my leadership

and call it

Democracy'

WHY??

Is it because I'm a MUSLIM?

Salam alaykum/peace be on you all~

Update:

@ those talking about the veil etc:

You make it sound like ALL muslims cover their faces!

Why is it that MAJORITY christian women don't cover up like nuns? it was ordered in the bible for women to cover?

I could say 'nuns cover up, they're oppressed. i stop reading till that point'?

Why the blind hate and ignorance?

Update 2:

@ moustache: it is the culture in the west for women to wear tight revealing clothes.

however, in other countries, culture varies. in Afghanistan and other palces, it is also part of culture to cover up.

Also, if you care so much about muslim women and their 'freedom to dress they want', why is it that you are LIMITING what muslim women can wear by banning nurka, veil etc??

answer me that.

Update 3:

@aggeymemnon: it is a LAW in saudi that ALL women regardless of their background CANT drive. there is equality. the law does not single out nor alienate people of certain societies, like teh westreners do by making a ban on veil and burka.

Update 4:

*burka

(typo!)

Update 5:

*burka

(typo!)

Update 6:

"Truth has (now) arrived, and Falsehood perished: for Falsehood is (by its nature) bound to perish." [Qur'an 17:81]

This is a history that can never be erased with their lies. No matter how much they tried to hide their wrong doing the true will always surface. Islam will be one of the main superpower to come from this adversary. We Muslim will be the strongest among the living. All these suffering will make us become more revitalize to seek a redress. The time will come when we will sit on the throne of victory. When death was shown at every doorstep, there will be no more fear in our heart.

Those people will not sleep with peaceful night. They are afraid of their own shadow. A holy war will come and we will rise to destroy them that had caused us so much misery. The Muslim world is watching their every move.

Salam :) I'm a Muslim teenager living in Canada. I wear hijab alhamdullilah and it's for the most part accepted here since i live in a big city with a sizeable Muslim population. I do get the few ignorant comments and idiots at school though who ask stuff like "yo got a bomb under there hahaha". But the hardest part is being different from your friends. Being a Muslim, parties, alcohol dating boys wearing revealing clothing etc is haram, and while I don't want to do that anyway, it can be a little awkward to have to explain why I don't do it to people who consider it just a part of being a teenager and its ordinary to them. Muslims living in Muslim countries definitely have it easier when it comes to fitting in. And with food it can be a little tricky but I always try to read the label if I'm not sure of the ingredients. But I wouldn't wanna be any other religion no matter how difficult it gets and how different I feel from everyone else, I'm glad to be Muslim :)

It's a bunch of lies and you know it. You don't know or understand when a woman is to cover her head in Christianity. It is only for prayer and prophesizing. I say you don't understand because women cannot be prophet in Islam. See, Christianity respects women and Islam doesn't.

But if you feel so oppressed dear, you are free to move to a Muslim country because it's a very spacious planet and nothing is stopping you! Also, it's what Allah would want:

    ‎Quran 4:97 Lo! as for those whom the angels take (in death) while they wrong themselves, (the angels) will ask: In what were ye engaged ? They will say: We were oppressed in the land. (The angels) will say: Was not Allah's earth spacious that ye could have migrated therein? As for such, their habitation will be hell, an evil journey's end;

1)A nun is NOT covered from head to toe. She still shows her face. She is not forced to cover up and can leave the convent any time if she chooses to not devote her entire life to god.

    2) Not necessarily true. The word here is "choice", which many muslim women do NOT have when it comes to having a career versus having to stay at home because of the Islamic idea of woman as sub-human.

    3) Most universities will not prevent any muslim woman from entering if you can (here it comes again) SEE HER FACE AND IDENTIFY HER. If you're wearing a head scarf, no big deal. If you are wearing a ghost-sheet, you are a security threat just like anyone else from any background who refuses to be identified.

    4) I think any child who dedicates themself to any religion is hopeless. But that's because I don't believe in god, so there you have it.

    5) Your war, not mine.

    6) Not necessarily true. Most likely because every time someone is murdered by a muslim they justify it by their religion. Christians have done this in the past and so have Jews. It still happens, but not with the frequency that muslims do, especially with the crap in the middle east.

    7) Pretty sure there are no solutions in any religion, including Islam. Most of that is crap.

    8) That makes no sense whatsoever. 0_o

    9) Another false claim. People question the media (newspapers, television) all of the time.

I'm sick of people like you. You and any other theist who tries to play the "PITY ME" card. Grow some balls and deal with the fact that you have been brainwashed.

People hate what they don't understand. Many times people form opinions without any real research into the subject their opinion is based on.

Religion is used as an EXCUSE for war, when the only real reason is power and control.

However unfair it is to the Muslims of the world, it is unfortunate that a few people of that religion/ upbringing ruin it for everyone else. It happens everywhere. I'm sure not all Catholic priests sodomize and terrify choir boys... but there are enough that do and have done so.

A few people exercising their free will can impact the entire world.

Because the ways of Muslims are not the ways of western people. If you choose to live in a western country you should dress and behave as is appropriate to that country. As Muslim countries expect western people who visit them to do. A western woman cant even drive in Saudi.

So until your barbaric religion lifts itself out of the 6th century ignorance promoted by the Quran Muslims will continue to find life in the west difficult unless they are prepared to adapt.

Actually, most nuns don't wear the Whipple or veils anymore.

  • 1 decade ago

sadly it's because in some cases like in Afghanistan and Iran ALL women have to cover up. it's not a personal choice over there.

this is what we see on TV. they don't show us reality, they only show us extreme situations. News media outlets make more money when they show shocking news.
