to go online and download anything or play online you have to have an xbox live account if you just want to download that i would just get a silver account cuz all that does is allow you to dowload games where as a gold account lets you do anthing download games and play online

thats how they get they're money. silver is free but gold is 50 dollars a year which isn't bad. silver you can download games but cant play them online whereas gold you can do anything.
