Is Sharm El Sheikh a safe place to visit?
My parents were thinking of booking a holiday for just after Christmas, and we were thinking about going to Sharm El Sheikh. My parents are on their fifties and my sister and I are both 23. I'm not sure about this part of Egypt and how interesting it would be for us since I was told that women get hassled if they walk around on their own and it isn't that safe outside of the purpose built complexes, is this true? If so could anyone suggest another warm place to go in the winter, other than Greece or the Canary Islands? Bear in mind that I live in the UK. Thanks for any responses :).

it is extremely safe and there are tourist police everywhere, i am a 25 year old female from england and i travel to sharm alone 3-4 times a year.. a to be honest i feel safer at night and day there than i do at home. when i naama bay yes the people will talk to u ask u to visit there shops or restaurants, but they are just doing there jobs, but they are very friendly people and u will be invited for a drink if u visit there shop but its just their hospitality. all the times i have been there i have never heard of their being any problems as in violence with the locals and u wont find kinder more helpful people anywhere. and also it is a great place to visit with beautiful sea like and lots to do.. and if u want a bit of culture and history then u can visit cairo etc.
im going back in 2 weeks and have no doubts that i will be safe, and i don't stay in the hotel all day so i know what its like when wondering out and about.
go for it and have a great time.

Hi,
It's absolutely fine! I've been twice to Egypt. First, to Sharm el Sheikh and secondly Taba. I've travelled with my teenage friends there and with my family and have had no problems whatsoever. Sharm is such a popular holiday resort that the main focus is touristy things, not anything unpleasant.
All you need to worry about Is what bikinis ur gonna take with :)
Have a lovely holiday xx

Cairo may be the capital of Egypt and among the largest towns in Africa and the Middle East and a great place to visit; find more with hotelbye . On the Nile river, Cairo is well-known for a unique record, preserved in the fantastic ancient Islamic town and Coptic websites in Old Cairo. The Egyptian Museum in the center of area is crucial see, with its countless Old Egyptian artefacts since no visit to Cairo would be total without a visit to the Giza Pyramids, and to the nearby Saqqara Pyramid Complex. In Cairo you can see: The Pyramid of Cheops (also called the Great Pyramid or Pyramid of Khufu), the biggest chart of the Giza party, and their inside of thin passages could be investigated, although there is not significantly to see, except a plain tomb chamber by having an clear sarcophagus. Immediately behind the Great Pyramid could be the Solar Ship Museum, which displays one of the ceremonial solar barques uncovered in your community that's been meticulously restored to their original glory. Further south on the plateau is the Pyramid of Chephren (also called the Pyramid of Khefre), that has an internal tube place that may be entered.

Security inside Sharm's city limits is tight. All the hotels have airport-style, walk-through metal detectors and guarded gates to prevent random traffic from entering the hotel property. There are also a number of guards posted along the main tourist thoroughfare.
