What are pros & cons of a standard handheld GPS unit versus a smart phone w/an app geared toward Geo-cacheing?

The handheld will have far better battery life and probably be more ruggedly built. The GPS performance will probably be a little bit better but not enough to matter.

The phone (assuming you have a data plan) will have better, more up to date maps of the area and probably a better display.
