are you fulfilling prophecy?

2 Peter 3 1-9

1 This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, 2 that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles.

3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.”

5 For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, 6 through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. 7 But the present heavens and earth by His word are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

Yes. We all are doing so. Just as later in history it would be said if we do not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it, so it will be so with this scripture. People will continue to mock God by mocking the promises both God and his Son, Jesus, made many thousands of years ago. What they fail to take any notice of is that the same mocking happened 4,000 years ago near the time of the Flood.

As Jesus said of that time in Matthew 24:37-39, "37 For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 38 For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark; 39 and they took no note until the flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be. " See that though there is nothing wrong with any of the things they were doing in verse 38, what they did that got them all killed is in verse 39. "They took no note" of what God's appointed servant Noah was warning them.

They laughed instead. How hard is it to get on an Ark? Just walk through one door opened wide. That was all they had to do to keep alive.

Here in 2 Peter 3:7, we see --if one pays attention-- that what will be destroyed is not the planet, but "the ungodly men". It is the wicked people on the earth who will die. Verse 9 shows why it has not happened already. God is patient in desiring all people of the right heart condition to repent. God already knows that most of the world will not do so, but there are still millions who are coming out of false religions in the world to worship him properly. (Rev. 18:5)

So yes we are fulfilling prophecy today.

The one about me having dinner shortly...

    I certainly hope so...

Oh, you mean regarding the scripture you copy/pasted... No, prophesy is not the spouting of the blindingly obvious. There were scoffers at the time of this writing and probably long before it...

"the last days mockers will come with their mocking."

Every cult makes a claim like this. If you think about this for a minute, any religion could claim this and their "prophecy" would be coming true.

    O My Father

O my Father, thou that dwellest

In the high and glorious place,

When shall I regain thy presence

    And again behold thy face?

    In thy holy habitation,

    Did my spirit once reside?

    In my first primeval childhood

Was I nurtured near thy side?

For a wise and glorious purpose

Thou hast placed me here on earth

    And withheld the recollection

    Of my former friends and birth;

    Yet ofttimes a secret something

    Whispered, “You’re a stranger here,”

And I felt that I had wandered

    From a more exalted sphere.

I had learned to call thee Father,

Thru thy Spirit from on high,

But, until the key of knowledge

Was restored, I knew not why.

    @ The Doctor:

Christians are the most hated people in the world. We are so hated that the names God and Jesus are more abused than any name ever in history.

So much hatred is spewed in reference to the beautiful deity of Christ.

Yes, your holy book tells you to wait forever and unquestioningly, and it also tells you that people who question your pointless waiting are fools. It is a religious text, after all.
