Christians, what have we been saying all along?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_rel_religious_litera...
this is evidence that we know more about your religion then you do, is this not what we have been saying forever?
oldguy63 - actually its very specific in the article to say that we know more about your religion as well as world religions.
Coffee Diva - you would not know anything of your god if it was not for religion. you would be an atheist like myself. there is no path to god without religion.
PeterPanda - and yet you took the time to post in my question, what does that say about you?
Jackal - actually it is, its evidence to support that ahteist and agnostics know more about christianty then christians do. it was a legit non biased group that did the survey.

This is like the 7th time I've seen this post and you're starting to sound like the religious fanatics that keep saying the same thing time and again in the hopes that it makes it fact. I'm an atheist and I don't care what this article says. It's not enough evidence of anything and I'm more interested in intellectual religious chat than this same reposting. Enough already.

That is not evidence; it is just a random survey that probably didn't ask the right questions.
It is true that many Catholics do not practise their religion in terms of Mass attendance and other services, but the majority that do know at least the basic tenets of their religion.

You may know more about my religion than some do, but I am highly doubtful you know more about it than I do. I certainly would not be so bold as to assert that I understood every aspect of Christian theology, but I believe I can say that I understand more than most.
Regardless, what has this to do with the truth of the matter? One man believes he has considered it at length and rejects it...another man believes the same, yet embraces it.
Now What?

I'm going to place myself in the strange situation of defending religion (shocking I know).
The problem is: The bible, for example, is incredibly complicated. These holy books contain sections which baffle biblical scholars, let alone your average American. Theists largely depend on theologians to understand the texts, and pastors to accurately convey the information after centuries of study. This tends to lead to the dependency of the organized religion to feed them not only the texts from the bible, but what they mean.
I still believe they should read the damn thing page to page on their own, but I can understand why some leave it to others to convey the information to them, out of fear of missing important 'teachings' (doctrines applied/derived to the texts) if they were to read it themselves.

People are getting too caught up in "religion" here. The important thing is your personal relationship with God. And that important thing is frequently overlooked. After your relationship is secure, the rest will fall into place. People increase in knowledge and wisdom thru Jesus.

Baloney! It shows that you may know more about world religions than we do but you have no concept of God's spiritual realm.

They were too busy pretending to be god and making sure that their bibles were collecting dust than to even listen. Most christians you meet have not gone to church or even touched a bible.
have a nice day.
