Christians: Do you study the Bible?

I mean do you look up the scriptures cited when they conflict with your own ideas or religious teachings?

Do you examine the validity of your faith?

Update:

I have missed something, havent I? pew poll?!

Update 2:

have you read the Bible? Many times?

Update 3:

Kim: I agree, there would be no exams. The fact that Christ was no part of the world and his disciples were to follow his footsteps, yet some choose to evaluate their learning in a very worldly, fact driven way indicating a discrepancy there

Update 4:

MPH: did you know that the word translated LORD in your translation is actually Gods personal name - Jehovah?

"I mean do you look up the scriptures cited when they conflict with your own ideas or religious teachings?"

    Yes.

For example, while I am inclined to say that homosexuality is fixed and the person is born homosexual, Scripture (Romans 1:26-27) clearly says it is a choice, calling it a abandonment of natural desire.

On the other hand, free will exists in God's will so there is no conflict.

    Another example:

I am inclined to say that belief is not a requirement yet Scripture reveals that it is a requirement. To have a clean heart, it appears that you must believe in the God who grants the blood.

Yes. Ofcoure. We, Jehovah's Witnesses conducts bible studies regularly. A study can usually be arranged at a time and place that is convenient for you. Some even study over the telephone. The study is not held in a classroom setting; it is a private arrangement tailored to your personal circumstances, including your background and education. You do not have to pay for such a Bible study. (Matthew 10:8) There are no exams, and you will not be made to feel embarrassed. Your questions will be answered, and you will learn how to draw close to God. Why, though, should you study the Bible? Consider some reasons why a study of the Bible can add joy to your life. You can ask anything you want.

All scriptures is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work. Daily

2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Act 17:11 These were more noble in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

The vast majority of Christians have never read the Bible except for a few select verses here and there. They are largely ignorant about their own belief system.

yes and the bible tells us to examine ourselves

2 corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you--unless, of course, you fail the test?

if i didn't examine the validity of my faith then i would be a fool.

of course i study the Bible. i graduated from a Bible college with a degree in biblical theology, i faithfully attend my Church's Bible studies and i study the Bible on my own time too.

i think the people who claim to have lost their faith because of in-depth Bible studies really don't understand systematic theology.

The BIBLE is the Christians Constitution. It is our obligation to study it. The BIBLE is perfect and not conflict with the teachings and ideas or religions teachings. This is THE WORD OF GOD. so it is perfect.

Absolutely! To know God's word is to know God. The Bible is meant to be studied.

We to compare His spiritual truth with spiritual truth; the Bible.

    1Corinthians 2:13

"Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual."

There is no way to understand the Bible unless we take it a little at a time.

    Isaiah 28:10

"For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:"

    Isaiah 28:13

"But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken."
