Toothpaste, no matter what kind, cannot get rid of a cavity all together. Toothpaste can only prevent them, but for the toothpaste to prevent cavities properly it has to contain fluoride. BTW, dentists don't remove cavities unless they're removing the whole tooth - they only fill cavities. Sometimes dentists don't always have the same equipment needed to really scope out cavities so that's why they're both saying different things. If you don't have any toothaches now, then just wait for another check-up to see if you have cavities then. Hope this helps!:)

my dentist said i had lots of cavities, but i missed the appoinment and ignored going for a few months. when i went back another dentist checked and told my i dont have any. i was using signal 2 tootpaste (it says 50% more calcium)

It does not remove cavities. Cavities are essentially holes in your teeth because bacteria / acid has eaten at them. Anti cavity toothpaste is to help protect you from getting cavities in the first place. You may have conflicting opinions from the dentists due to the location or size of the cavities, however once the enamel has worn away for cavities to form it is not something ANY toothpaste can repair.

Anticavity toothpaste's active ingredient is fluoride not calcium. That is about the only thing that can reverse early carious lesions. If your paste contain fluoride the may be it did work.

Flouride is thought to work because it is a minor dissolvent, but I dare you to compare it to water. Flouride does not work because what it is trying to dissolve is a microbe. Lots of things are antimicrobial, but the most safe ones tend to be baking soda and iodine, for which I use iodized salt (takes heavy getting used to) but after you use one, it will feel as though you came from the dentist. No one knows this, no one I tell this to listens to it, no one spreads its message, it will reach no one, "all your teeths are belong to us" - dentists. Yes, I will never need to go to a dentist. No I aint crazy until I want to be.
