Can I uninstall Windows Vista from my computer and install Windows 7? Windows Vista is horrible.?

Or would it be cheaper and easier just to buy a new computer with Windows 7 already installed?

    Hi Vonda P,

The choice is really one you'll have to make for yourself. You can either purchase an upgrade version of Windows 7 and upgrade your computer from Vista to Windows 7.

Or, you can purchase a new computer with Windows 7 pre-installed on it (also called OEM Windows 7). If you go this route, it's important to know that you will not be able to move Windows 7 to a different computer in the future.

I'd say to do some price comparison on your own and see what's a better route for you. If your computer is on the older side, a new computer may be worth it.

If you decide to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7, here's a great guide that will walk you through the process - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/help/u...

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,

Depends really. I would just buy and upgrade disk for about £60 if your computer is good/okay for what you use it for. If your computer is more than about 4 years old it may be time to get a new computer any way. But if you were to buy an upgrade disk im pretty sure you have the option to move all files and drivers etc, with you to windows 7.

I can make computers for £150 with the operating system which are just as fast and good as £300(for basic internet/word document use). So you just need to find the right person to do it for you or you can but a computer already built from a retailer for about £200-£250.

    1. Back up all your personal documents.

    2. Download and run "Windows Easy Transfer" - free - from Microsoft. This copies all your files/settings.

    3. Install Windows 7 - choose fresh install - not upgrade install

    4. Run "Windows Easy Transfer" again - this will put all your settings back.

    5. Done.

You don't need to "uninstall" Vista - performing a Windows 7 upgrade will do the removal for you.

You can't simply uninstall an OS and reinstall a new one. You would either have to upgrade Vista to Windows 7 with a Win 7 upgrade disk or you would want to wipe the hard drive and reinstall fresh with Windows 7 (after backing up all the files you want to keep).

For $ 139 CAD, you can buy a W7 Upgrade Kit. New W7 computers cost much more than that!

There's no need to un-install Vista FIRST, or, back up all your Personal Data, either, although, it is RECOMMENDED by Microsoft.

W7 installs itself, from within Vista, using the Upgrade Option, and preserves your personal stuff, and, your Vista Apps should all run under W7, too.

    Any way hun.

If ur going to do a install of windows 7 make sure u back up everything

then boot in to the install disk

and delete ur partition and make a new partition for windows 7

PS>Dleteing a partition removes all ur data and Os (vista)

From most of what I read,Windows 7 is just as horrible;too many issues. Until they straighten out that OS,I personally think it's best to stay with Vista.(or even XP for that matter)

if you have a copy of windows 7 u should be able to put it in and upgrade. or do fresh install as long as you have all drivers for your computer available on disc.

Maybe get a Vista to Win7 Upgrade ... you get to keep all your settings but can give Vista the flick and get a proper Operating System instead.

Go to the windows 7 website and download then run the upgrade advisor.

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx...

it will tell you wether you can run windows 7,

also it will let you know if you need to change anything.
