    A silver quarter nomially weighs 6.25 grams, and contains 90% silver. A troy ounce is 31.1034768 grams. Therefore, the number of silver quarters per troy ounce of silver is:

    N = 31.1034768/(6.25)(0.9) = 5.53 quarters

    There is no silver content in a 1976 quarter. The mint stopped adding silver to quarters in 1963.
