Ladies only!! I've got terrible cramps (that time of month), and Midol isn't working. Any advice please?
I'm in agony!! My cramps are getting WORSE as I get older, but never experienced them until a few years ago. Is this a sign of early menopause? I'm in my late 30's. Thanks in advance!! :)

Worsening cramps is not usually a sign of early menopause. It could be a sign of several things:
1). Your cycle may be changing its rhythm
2). you may be having cycles that are anovulatory meaning you did not ovulate before your period started hence you are more prone to cramps.
3). you could have uterine fibroids which are benign fibrous tumors on or about the uterus that cause vicious cramps.
4). I am assuming you are up to date on your papa smears, if not go get one. This could detect any cervical issues and would give you an opportunity to discuss this pain with your gyn.
5.) ask the doctor to also asses your ovaries for size and anomalies as well since ovarian malfunction or anomalies can cause cramping as well.
As far as pain control, an anti inflamatory will work best. Alleve in particular is great. Heating pads to the abdomen and lower back are also helpful with the pain. The most important thing right now is to report this all to your doctor and get evaluated soon just to get a jump on any treatment you would need if you had an abnormal pap.

Increased cramps during your period doesn't mean early menopause. It could be sign of something else though. I had severe cramps for about a year and very heavy periods. When I finally went to the doctor, she found fibroid cysts. You should definitely go to the doctor for a check up and report anything to him/her you think might be useful in identifying any problem you may have.
For cramps, Aleve works great for me. Also, make sure you are exercising regularly, eating healthy, and drinking plenty of water. You should also exercise on the second day of your period. Even though it is the last thing you feel like doing. It will help with blood flow, improve your flexibility, and overall just make you feel better.

Hot bath, hot pad, chamomile tea, electric massager, orgasm works for some women, and this one I read about, not sure why it works: Lean a little less than 2 feet from a wall. Rest your palms and forearms against the wall and lean in with your abdomen, keeping feet firmly planted.

Naprogesic. My first gf (back in grade 10) used it and since then i've recomended it to 9 girls (the girlfriends which followed) and they were all very happy that i did.
Oh but i'm not a women....so you best disregard that answer.

for medicine, take either ilbiprofen or tylenol sinus pain, if you dont want to use medicine, then excersise while your on it, drink lots of water, and AVOID chocolate! (chocolate does something bad for your period!) hope this helped
