I was just offered a promotion on Monday, but the boss explained that I would have a lull in pay for an uncertain period of time. This is a commission job, and the promotion is commission, but has big payout potential. I stated both my enthusiasm, but concern over the lull in pay, and requested that I could make up the difference working late. Apparently, he didn't like that, says it's a full time job (I'm already working 40 hours!!), and that he has to rethink it. All day, he completed avoided me!! What do you make of this? Was I wrong to be concerned about my pay? I only requested working extra hours for a few weeks, and totally think this is a valid concern....what promotion is a step up, with a decrease in pay? I think he's being totally unreasonable. Your thoughts?

I made a nasty comment regarding his friend when we both thought his phone was hung up (stupid POS I-phone!!!). He realized it wasn't it. His friend called him on my comment, that I made in the privacy of my own home, thinking the phone was hung up (because it said it was!!) This was his best friend. I sent and email and called him, apologizing that I was just angry at that moment about a situation, and he said it was "ok". But he still told my husband "it wasn't cool." Did I do the right thing? I know the damage is done...but I'm totally embarrassed and feel I may have injured my husband's relationship with his best bud. My husband isn't angry with me, but he's upset about the situation too. I guess I should never make a rude comment again about anyone or anything again!! lol Comments....advice??

Why would alcoholism not just be called an addiction like smoking or doing drugs? And if doing drugs is obviously worse and illegal than smoking, then why don't we just call smoking a crutch? Or why don't we call all smoking and drug addiction a disease as well? So, would food addicts also be considered diseased? Because it can be just as dangerous. Who made up these rules as to what's a disease, what's a crutch, and what's an addiction?

I grew up in a stable environment with a stay at home mom and a dad who had the same job for 40+ years. However, with our economic crisis, children are being forced out of their homes with their parents, forced to abandon their beloved pets, and see their parents struggle with unemployment creating instability in their childhood memories. Do you think this will create a society more prone to criminal activity and violence? What long term effect do you think it would have? I never see anything like this on the news. Thanks for your input.
