How to stop members adding people-me/you to yahoo groups without permission?

According to yahoo groups information, its against the Yahoo! Groups Terms of Service to add people to your group without their permission - so how come I was added to the group BEACON-2 without giving permission -- or even being asked or invited to join?

I received an email from a yahoo group telling me they added me to their group and that I would get emails from the group as well as members. I immediately went to the group and unsubscribed. This is annoying and an invasion of my privacy. I tried to find the proper email address to voice my complaint but (of course) this is not easily found. Is their as least a way to disallow this practice in preferences or my profile before it starts?

ANNOYED!

Update:

While Yahoo Help says to Click the MY EMAIL PREFERENCES LINK on the My Groups page - clicking on the My Groups page gets me there but there is no email preferences link there. I'm guessing its because I belong to no Yahoo group whatsoever.

Update 2:

I got help from Yahoo. Apparently there is a default setting in the Yahoo groups programmed to say, Yes I want group monitors to registered me to their groups without my permission. That's crazy.

I found my way to the missing button and changed the settings.

- Go to:

http://groups.yahoo.com/mygroups

- Click on "Go to My Email Preferences" at the top of the page.

- Under the "Options" column, click on the "Edit" link for any of the

verified email addresses listed.

- After clicking on "Edit" link, check/uncheck the box(es) in front of

"Allow group moderators to directly add me to their groups" and/or

"Allow group moderators to invite me to their groups."

- Click "Save Changes."

Please note: You will not see the above options for non-Yahoo! email

addresses. If the email address added to the group was not a Yahoo!

email account, you will need to first add the email address as an

alternate email address to your Yahoo! account.

You can do so by using our membership wizard:
