Everybody I've quizzed about this plant were very disappointed at the results. Gimmick.

I made my own upside down tomato planter this year. I tried the same type of plant in it as four others that I planted in containers. The upside down plant was much slower at producing fruit and only gave me half as much as the other four.

They were all planted at the same time and given the same fertilizer and were given the same amount of sun. My own personal opinion is that when the tomato is upside down, that it expends too much of it's precious energy trying to turn itself up to the sun leaving little left for growing fruit.

In my experience they needed to be watered a lot more than if they were in the ground. The bag that the soil was in starting rotting out and disintegrated in the sun long before the plant was producing anything. The whole thing ended up in the trash.
