Why do you think Jehovahs Witnesses are so persistent at visiting people at home?...?

I will give you a clue - we don't want your money; we believe in the motto " quality not quantity"; we really don't want to disturb your peace and quiet.....

Please be respectful......pretty please

Update:

Yes indeed one reason is because of love - we want as many as possible to see that living under Jehovahs loving rule is a refreshing way to live.

And we are commanded to preach this good news BUT this is only good news to those that are longing for something better...

those that reject Gods way do not feel happy at the good news we share. The message we give is two fold in that it is also a message of condemnation - Armageddon will come and if we are not on Gods side we will be destroyed. There is no sitting on the fence in this instance

We do not come to your door to bolster our congregation numbers, we have plenty.

We are commanded to do so and out of love for God and YOU we strive to share this message with you

It might be inconvienent at the time but in the long run you may be happy that we were so persistent.

It really is out of "Agape' Love" or Godly principled love. That extends to everyone, even our enemies. Think of what Jesus Christ did when on earth. No matter how tired he was, he never stopped helping others. Sure, we are not perfect people but Christ set that example for us.

People's circumstances change too. They might not like us today but something could happen in their lives and they may need encouragement and guidance from the scriptures.

BTW, we give freely of our time and resources. This work could only be done out of love. Many have mentioned that they could never do this for a living. NO we are not salesmen. And to answer another person; no matter how many millions of witnesses there are; we are talking about the last days and lives are involved. This is not joining the YMCA. This is life saving work, and will not be repeated.

Amidst all the bad news, we bring good news of the Kingdom soon to rule on the earth. No more sickness, death or pain. Growing to perfect. Does that sound boring or exciting to you? You decide.

    Christ did it!

And he taught his disciples to do so as well.

Footstep followers of the Christ do this same work today in obedience to his command at Matthew 24:14 and Matthew 28:19-20

Acts 20:20 ....says, "while I did not hold back from telling you any of the things that were profitable, nor from teaching you publicly and from house to house."

@ A Rose, you are very misinformed about Jehovah's Witnesses, we don't use t.v or radio, or other forms of advertisment as you stated....our advertising is our door to door ministry and our literature. Have you ever spoken to one of Jehovah's Witnesses personally? If so you would know this. Next time, stop and chat with one of us, I'm sure you will be enlightened. Check out our website at http://www.watchtower.org/ there's tons of information about us and not hearsay.

We want people to live forever, of course!

144,000 along with Jesus are ONLY the number of those chosen as judges, a jury of our peers who lived suffering lives here on earth.

Countless billions can and will gain eternal life. Not only those who are not of the 144,000, but those who live through Armageddon and the many who are under the earth in the graves who get resurrected to learn. Philippians 2:10, 11, Isaiah 26:8-10, 65:17, 20, more.

Simply because it is a commandment from our leader Jesus Christ. So we do our very best to follow it.

(Matthew 28:19-20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”

True Christians would take the preaching work seriously and would not view it as an optional commandment. COnsider the following verses...

    Jesus said..

If YOU love me, YOU will observe my commandments; (John 14:15)

My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27)

If YOU observe my commandments, YOU will remain in my love, just as I have observed the commandments of the Father and remain in his love. (John 10:15)

Why, then, do YOU call me ‘Lord! Lord!’ but do not do the things I say? (Luke 6:46)

    :-)

    @ Cindy2:

    debbiepittman just answered your question.

Just like the apostle Paul felt a personal obligation to declare the good news to others. (1 Cor. 9:16, 19, 23) Similarly, our concern for the eternal welfare of people motivates us to go out of our way to share the good news with them.

I don't know, but I put up a "no religion" sign and it's worked wonders. I live in a very busy condo building in Manhattan and my door bell rang six times in one weekend. (Four were Mormons, two were Jehovah's) I got sick of it and put up my "no religion" sign on the weekends and it's been great.

I'm not a J.W., but I hope that their persistence comes out of their love of God and their desire to bring people unto Christ.

I think JW's witness because they told to witness so many hours a week. Ive seen many JW walk very slowly as if to stall on knocking on doors. I'm sure some JW's love to witness but most of them do it grudgingly because they hate it.

That's one thing I don't get. According to them only 144,000 will be saved. Yet, their numbers are around 7,000,000 worldwide. Since they've already exceeded that number many times over, why do they still go door to door? Perhaps you can explain this to me.

In my case I think it's because I'll offer them a cuppa if I'm not busy.

Though they only get a biscuit if I take a real shine to them :oP

    JW's aren't so bad.
