How much work is done if you use 5 N of force to push a 20-N object 3 m across the floor? Thanks if you can answer this!

    The floor would be horizontal

    The applied force and the displacement are in the same direction ... parallel to the floor

    so use W = Fd

    W = 5 * 3

    W = 15 J

    ... the weight of the object (20 N) acts vertically down ... so it's at right angles to the applied force and doesn't affect the work done by you
