Can you customize a footer on OpenOffice?
I'm putting together a small book and want to include page numbers. I'm fine with doing this manually, but OpenOffice seems to think that every footer should either be identical or repeating. The problem is that I have to have a different file for every chapter (That is, Chapter 1 is pages 1 - 4 and one file; chapter 2 is pages 5 - 10 and a separate file), and I need to be able to have pages 1 - 4 in file one, and 5 - 10 in file two, etc. How can I accomplish this? Thank you

Assuming you have inserted the footer with a page number field already in place.
To set the page number to something other than 1 in each file/chapter try the following.
Click at the beginning of the first paragraph of each file/chapter.
Click the Format menu.
Click the Paragraph sub-menu.
Click the Text Flow tab.
In the Breaks section:
Select the Insert option.
Select the With Page Style option.
Set the Page number option to your starting number.
Click the OK button.
The page numbers will now begin with what ever number you want.
