  • Can anyone give me some dessert suggestions?

I am putting together a sort of romantic picnic-type date with artichoke hearts, olives, feta cheese, crackers, and wine. The only trouble is that I can't think of a good dessert to finish it up. Any ideas?

  • Is there any way to changing the color of embossing on Paint.Net?

For instance, change it from the original silver to gold? Is there a way to do this, or a plug-in that would accomplish it?

  • Can you customize a footer on OpenOffice?

I'm putting together a small book and want to include page numbers. I'm fine with doing this manually, but OpenOffice seems to think that every footer should either be identical or repeating. The problem is that I have to have a different file for every chapter (That is, Chapter 1 is pages 1 - 4 and one file; chapter 2 is pages 5 - 10 and a separate file), and I need to be able to have pages 1 - 4 in file one, and 5 - 10 in file two, etc. How can I accomplish this? Thank you

  • Does a sun tan automatically mean sun damage?

So, for the past week I have been swimming. I've applied a good, waterproof spf religiously, and always get dressed and out of the sun right after getting out of the water -- no sunbathing. Despite that, though, I've developed a bit of a tan. So what I'm wondering is, if you get a tan, does that automatically equate to sun damage, or -- because of the spf lotion -- is it still relatively safe?

  • Can anyone interpret this dream...?

First off, let me begin by saying that I realize that a lot of people don't believe in dream interpretation, and that is totally fine. However, if you are one of those people, please ignore this question.

Now, before I began, I'd like to point out two things:

    1. In real life I tend to be on the reasonable side, whereas my mother is more... spontaneous -- for lack of a better word. In this dream, that role seems to have been reversed.

    2. I am not maternal. At all.

So, here's the dream. My mother and I were walking around what I think was a shopping center in the middle of night. We came across a shopping cart that had a baby in it. Now, this was an excessively cute baby -- it had lots and lots of hair, big blue eyes, and it was happy -- smiling and giggling. So I picked it up and squeezed it to my chest. My mother said, "We have to find its parents." So we wandered around trying to find them. We eventually bumped into these two dirty, scruffy people who were the parents. The mother looked at it and said, "Oh yea. I forgot that." My mother and I stepped away for a second (still with the baby pressed to me), and I said, "We are NOT giving the baby back," and my mother replied, "No, we have to. We have to give her back." So I finally relented and gave her back. The mother kept ignoring her, but the dad seemed sort of happy to see her. Then I woke up and felt a little sad.

What on earth does all of that mean?

  • Can you request to have your tonsils removed?

I know this sounds like a frivolous question, but in the last year and 3 months I have had 4 massive tonsil infections and intermittent swelling and pain in between. I've been to the doctor each time and they put me on antibiotics. This clears it up temporarily, but then it seems to come back. I have thought long and hard about this, and although the idea of having surgery is scary, it's even scarier to think that I might have this happen all of the time. I know that sounds dramatic, but when my brother was little he had something similar, and they waited 4 years hoping he would 'grow out of it.' I'm 22, I wonder if I'm beyond growing out of something like this.

So... can I reasonably ask to have them just taken out? Thanks!

  • Any weird/unique/interesting things to do in El Paso, Texas?

My boyfriend is going to be living there over the next year and I wanted to find something really cool to take him to when I go to see him the next time. However, all I've been able to find is touristy stuff. So I'm wondering if there's anyone who lives there or has lived there that can make some recommendations?

  • Does anyone know where I can find a song from the "Imitation of Life" soundtrack?

It's dubbed by Jo Ann Greer for Susan Kohner and is called "Empty Arms." I've looked everywhere, but I can't even find a video clip of the movie performance. Any ideas?

  • What can be done for an adult with scoliosis?

I've known that I have scoliosis for years. When I was little I was taken to the chiropractor for treatments, but they were absolutely awful (I still shudder!), so I refused to continue. Last week I went to the doctor for something entirely unrelated -- ended up with x-rays and he said, "you know you have pretty severe scoliosis, right?" Apparently it got much worse than when I was little. It doesn't really bother me now as I've learned to make a habit of keeping decent posture, and it really doesn't cause a tremendous amount of pain. However, the doctor said that in later years it may cause arthritis, and he said there really isn't much I can do about it at this point. I think that might be a bit of a pessimistic view, so my question is... IS there something I can do to keep from having a lot of pain later down the line? I already exercise frequently, make sure to keep myself flexible and my back strong. What else can I do? Thanks so much!

  • What to do about a virus possibly stealing information?

So... here's the thing. I run Malwarebytes every Wednesday as part of a routine. When I did it last week everything was clear. This week my job asked that I fill out some paperwork online, and they ask for my social security number and I did it yesterday. I ran the anti-spyware program today and it said I had a Trojan.BHO in IE. I'm a little worried about the information I had to put in for work. Is there anything I can do to make sure my information wasn't stolen? What should I do next? Any advice? Thank you in advance!

  • Can anyone recommend a good facial serum...?

...for dry, but very sensitive skin. I've found a lot of serums that are supposed to calm already rashy skin. The trouble is, my skin is fine when I leave it alone, but if I try to moisturizer the skin (which is also quite dry. What a mess!), then it breaks into a rash. So I need something that will be gentle but still moisturize effectively. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • Looking for a website...?

...And I cannot find it for some reason. The idea behind the website is that you can set up events in your area, and make it available for other people in the same place to sign up and receive information about the group or event.

  • How to clean a comforter without a washer?

I know that sounds weird, but I have a gigantic denim comforter that I need cleaned. My washer is too small, the local laundromat is closed for renovation, and we don't have a dry cleaner in town. However, it does fit into the dryer... so is there an alternative to cleaning it in the washer?

  • Looking for an older movie...?

...I don't know a lot of details about it, all I know is that it had William Hickey in it, and it was black and white. He was sitting at the end of a long dinner table, and a woman with an enormous beehive hairdo was sitting at the other end. Her hair collapsed and fell into his soup.

    Anyone have a clue?

  • This word is driving me mad...?

...I know I'm spelling it wrong, and I've tried a handful of different ways to spell it, but cannot find the correct answer.

The best I can come up with is this: Characher.

If this isn't clear (and I'm sure it's not), the meaning is a drawing or a piece of art that mocks the model by using exaggerated and unattractive features.

So how on Earth do you spell it?! Thanks.

  • I need to fix my Sony Bean?

I not sure if anyone will be able to help as these are a bit out-dated, and not that popular to begin with; however, I'm having trouble with mine. My Sony Bean (model number NW-E305) has a jammed USB stick. I've always had issues with the cover sliding back too far, but I've always been able to fix it. But this time, the USB card flew out of the slot, and now it's jammed in the out position. Is there any way to get it back in? Thanks!

  • I need relationship advice...?

So, to start, I have to say, I'm not the type of woman who falls for everyone she dates. I've only had one proper relationship prior to my current boyfriend, and I can't say that I've ever really genuinely fallen for anyone before. Now, as for my current boyfriend, I've known him for nearly three years, and we've been dating for about ten months. It's occurred to me that yes, I really do love this guy. But given that that sort of thing has never happened before, I don't know what to do. Should I tell him this? Would it be weird since he hasn't said anything to the same effect? Thanks so much in advance!

  • A very long period...?

So, I normally have really heavy periods, but they are usually quite short (3 or 4 days). Last Monday I had a PT test and was curious if there was any way to at least lessen the flow, so I asked my doctor, and she told me to skip the inactive portion of my birth control pills, and just start a new pack. I started my period prior to the PT test, did as my doctor told me, but I haven't stopped bleeding; it's been 10 days. I mention the birth control because that's the only thing I've done differently. What could the problem be? I'm out of town at the moment, so I can't go back to the doctor just now, I was just curious if anyone has had this problem, and what the problem might be. I'm not in any sort of pain, and all of the other menstrual symptoms are gone already.

I know this question might sound funny, but I'd really appreciate some serious answers. Thank you.
