low hcg levels (72) at 4w5d, is it normal?
My ob/gyn called me today with my blood test results from a week ago and hcg was 72, she wants me rechecked tomorrow. She couldn't find anything on the intravaginal sono. I just want to know if it's normal to be this low? I'm having some symptoms: breast tenderness and nausea. No bleeding or spotting but with some cramps though. I had a miscarriage 2 yrs ago and will be devastating for me to have another one. Hope everything goes well because he or she will be our first baby.

You are still in that area where anything is possible. At the point you are at it is hard to see anything on ultrasounds and the levels vary. I will say that with my second pregnancy my levels were 42 at 4 wks and the Dr was concerned. She repeated the test 2 days later and they doubled. My son is now 5 years old. They did an ultrasound at 7 weeks to confirm everything was where it should be.
