You don't know your history. For one, just an example, the richest nation on Earth during the 16th century was Spain. For two, you are equating success with wealth... that is the testosterone in you that is a virus destroying the world.

Capitalism isn't bad. Over-reliance on capitalism is. All things are bad when done excessively. The problem with America is that conservatives are trying to turn us all into capitalism addicts, blind to how our craving for capitalism is destroying us. Liberals believe keeping capitalism in check by counter-balancing it with socialism, like many of the countries you mentioned do, is more prudent.
