Can I buy a warranty for my 2006 Jeep Liberty?

So, my check engine light came on today and I took it to Midas. The guy hooked up the little diagnostic box and told me there was something wrong with my air intake. He advised me to take it to a Jeep dealer, because he's dealt with this type of issue before, and simply couldn't fix the car.

He said if I am not covered by a warranty this will be a pretty pricey procedure because basically they will have to take the top half of my engine apart.

My question is, can I purchase a warranty for my car to help cover the costs of this repair. If so, where can I acquire said warranty?

You help and suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

What he meant to say was the intake manifold not the air intake. That's the only way what he told you would actually make sense. Intake manifolds (on what I assume to be a v6) are a little tougher to deal with than on say a 4 cylinder.

But again, midas isn't really a place to take your car for a diagnosis because they're not really qualified mechanics. I'm guessing it was 1182 which isn't generally caused by an intake manifold part but more or less caused by either a dirty MAF or possibly a dirty air filter. So...as others have said take the car to a real mechanic or the dealership if it has a warranty or recall (call them up and ask them based on the obd2 code that midas gave you).

Just go to another mechanic jeep qualified, This guy don't know what he is doing or don't have the tools. I don't see how you can purchase a warranty and even if you could it would make the dealear bill look sweet...I would not trust anyone offering this service. Be careful of the vultures.
