Why do they call globe tattoo supersurf 'unlimited'?

I registered with supersurf50 to 'Enjoy unlimited internet surfing for 1 day.' After a couple of hours downloading a movie, I received this 'Globe Advisory: Your account has reached 1GB in usage today. Subject to Globe Fair Use Policy, your internet service has been temporarily deactivated.'

If it's for 'fair use' then that's ok with me. But I'm just curious. Why do they call it 'unlimited'? Unlimited in terms of what?

At least you got a warning! I was on the Supersurf220 and when it ran out I was trying to register again the next day and I kept getting mixed messages, like you can not register while you are still registered under another program, so I would check the status and it would say I was not registered.

So I called globe and they finally told me it had been temporarily deactivated because of heavy use like down loading video, (and I did I was down loading from YouTube).

So I said "but it says unlimited" and finally they said unlimited surfing (looking around) not unlimited down loads, (which I can understand that) but I argued with them that they should tell us that and not just say unlimited.

They could not even tell me how long the account was deactivated for, 2 weeks later it was still deactivated so I spent 35 pesos and bought another sim card and went back on with a new number. But now I don't down load a lot of things. Live and learn I guess......

    Globe Tattoo Promo Unlimited Internet

  • 1 decade ago

It's not really fair usage. I was thinking at first that it was about equally dividing their obviously limited resources to all users. But it's not, rather that it means fair usage regarding the customer and globe's pockets. I think it's costing them a lot and burning holes in their pockets dearly that a user downloaded more than 3GB of data for only 50 pesos. To them, that's not fair. And they're right, it's actually not. They're tightening belts right now.

According to them, the promo is for moderate use, like surfing, videos, email, and the like. A movie is around 700Mb or more. So unlimited is only for the former and not the latter. No more happy days.
