A question about the Appendix..?

Ok so a friend of mine was in the A&E yesterday morning. She didn't say what was up exactly ut she did say some thing about her Appendix. Now she did say she didn't have any surgery so I guess that means they didn't burst. So what else can go wrong with the Appendix?

The appendix is a vestigial organ - it has no current function in the human body ( a left over from evolution). It can become inflamed to various degrees. Serious inflammation necessitates surgical removal. Sometimes people use 'an inflamed appendix' to describe other medical problems which they do not wish to discuss.
