Where & how do I replace the bulb in my HP 3310 All-In-One printer/scanner/coppier?
I have a HP 3310 All-In-One Printer/Scanner/Coppier. When I scan or copy something, a black page spits out using a boat load of ink. I noticed the light doesn't work when scanning/coppying. I assume I need to replace the bulb in it. Can anyone tell me how & where I to do this? I need the bulb and need to know how to fix it? If you tell me I should just buy a new one, please back up your statement with figures so I can determine if it's worth buying the bulb or just buying a new machine. Thank you

If you had the tools and the skills to get in there and swap the bulb without getting dirt in the inner workings, and without breaking anything, your time would be worth so much you would be out of pocket just taking a few mins to ask the question.
All in ones are just cheap junk, I've regretted all the ones I've owned or worked with. It's like some awful person came up with an idea to infect people with piles of plastic that only partly work.
Newer cameras have "document" modes for quickly importing a picture of a document, the best printers are just printers (take a peek at the Xerox Phaser line of solid ink printers), and faxing can be done online (I use internet fax (http://www.metrohispeed.com/) almost daily and it's WAY better than a physical fax; check my sources link for more info on all this stuff).
Unless you do a lot of scanning, you really shouldn't be looking for an all-in-one. Heck if you do a lot of scanning, do yourself a big favour and go look at a Fujitsu ScanSnap. They are a double sided high speed scanner with OCR. You can drop 25 pages into them at a time and they convert all that paper into searchable PDF file that does not take up any physical space. When you want to find a document you can search on your PC vs. digging through piles. It's a huge life saver for people with loads of documents.
Hope that info helps you make the right call. Essentially, if part of an all-in-one breaks, replace that part with a completely working solution. Eventually (and not too long considering the quality of these units) the rest of the parts will break and you can recycle all that plastic. ;P
