I spilled milk onto the carpet...How do I get rid of the smell?
I spilled milk onto my carpet on the second floor on Monday. For some reason, I chose not to even touch it.. Then I spent Wednesday night scrubbing laundry detergent into it. Thursday night I used water and then sprayed Febreeze after. It still smells really bad...It's quite embarrassing...

Sprinkle baking soda over the area and allow to dry for 24 hours. Vacuum the area. Baking soda absorbs odors and restores freshness to carpeting.
Another option is to sprinkle distilled white vinegar on the spill. Allow to set for several hours. Blot to remove the vinegar and rinse with cold water. Place a fan on the area to dry the carpet. The smell of vinegar will subside once it is dry and the smell of sour milk will be gone.

In the milk spilled on the carpet clean (spray some collar is best, or squeeze carpet cleaning, washing a) spirit,
Five minutes later
Brush or with a toothbrush, less water, brush dirty place.
Brush the hard foam, quickly use dry cloth to foam.
If no clean thoroughly may once again.

you dont need me to tell you that you should have cleaned it up straight away.. there is nothing, and I mean nothing, worse than milk.. it will stink for ever because now its gone bad.. scubbing it with laundry detergent is another no no.. now you will just find you won;t be able to get that out either.. every tme you put water on, it will just react with the detergent and lather up.. if poss, hire a rug doctor and just keep going over the area using plain water will the foam stops. or, get plenty of towels, and keep putting warm water on the spot, and then laying towels over it and standing on them to absorb the water.. keep doing this over and over and over.. but the rug doctor would be a lot quicker and a lot more efficient..
