Do photons ever go faster than the speed of light?
When light is being produced by some way in the sun, do photons just instantly start gong the speed of light or do they accelerate to the speed of light? And if they accelerate to the speed of light do they never go past the speed of light?
do they accelerate or are they just instantly going the speed of light?

"instantly" does not happen in Quantum Mechanics because of Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle (Google it).
By the time a photon is detected , it is going to the speed of light and there no way to determine what it does in between.

Hi:
the answer is no
Photon are paticiles with out mass so they can go at light speed and they go instantly to the speed of light once they are made
the reason we can go faster than than light is due the fact we are made of atoms and they have mass
a simple experiment with a car will explain why
put the car in neutral and try to push it forward fast, What happen
the car resists your attempt to move it than it start to move the reason for it is called intriea ( a body resistance to move instantly from zero to what speed you want to push it in zero time )
evently the car will reach that speed but there is a limit if you try to move the car any faster it will oppose your efforts and there is a limit and that is the speed of light because you also need enegry to move something the more you want to move something fast the more engery you need to do it at nearly the speed of light you need a lot of energy to move it that fast at light speed you nedd infinite amount and that is something the Universe does not have. and you need more than infinite amount since the universe does n't have that So that is one of the reason way it impossible to go fast than light.

Nothing goes faster then the speed of light. Photons ARE light.

I'm no scientist, but I don't think photons can go faster than the speed of light because photons are light - or at least light at the atomic level.

They instantly start at the speed of light (in vacuum) and never exceed it.
