  • Does this make good business sense?

The company I work for is a branch of a corporation. We were informed that the building (which the corporation owns) is going to be sold, and the company will lease it from the buyer for 8 to 10 years with a buy-back option. During those 8-10 yrs, the building will be re-vamped - supposedly while we are all still working. Wouldn't it cost the corporation more to buy it back? I know next to nothing about running a business and to me, this does not make sense unless the company is going to close up shop and move somewhere else. Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

  • What rights does having medical power of attorney give someone?

My 100 yr old grandmother is still in her right mind and still lives in her own home. She is currently recovering in a nursing home from bleeding ulcers and will be going home in a couple of weeks. One of my cousins (who had basically disowned our grandmother 8 years ago) suddenly put in an appearance & started taking charge of her medical needs, issuing orders to the nurses at the nursing home and is claiming she has medical power of attorney. That doesn't sound right to me - that she can issue orders like that for our grandmother when she has all of her faculties. She isn't even a doctor or a nurse. I think she is like this because she works in an administrative office in a hospital not far from the nursing home.

If anyone knows, can you please tell me if having medical power of attorney gives someone the right to force someone to have a medic-alert pendant and a host of other things as a "requirement" to go home? She - the cousin - off-handedly claims that it is the nursing home making this requirement, but I don't think so. She is ignoring everyone else in the family that still resides locally and basically is doing what she THINKS our grandmother needs. Also, in the 8 years of absence & non-communication with anyone in the family, I have been looking after our grandmother - making sure she has all her meds, meals, housekeeping, laundry, etc.... I don't begrudge her if she wants to spend time with our grandmother or wants to do things for her. But she is doing these things without consulting me or my mother (who is our grandmothers only surviving daughter), yet she will call our cousin in another state and fill her in on what is going on. She just can't be bothered to call us or give us ANY (and I do mean a-n-y) information.

Any information you can provide would be most helpful & appreciated.

  • What to get for a middle aged woman who has everything she needs?

My sister has everything she needs and I drew her name for Christmas. We're all adults in my family now, so we just draw names + buy for our mom. My problem is that I haven't got a clue what to get for my sister. I've lived 1000 miles away from my family for over 10 years now, so I don't know what she likes these days. We rarely talk, although we do get along well. I have been browsing in the online stores but can't seem to find just the right thing. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • What are all the riots about in the U.K.?

What is going on in London? The ONLY reason I could find for all these riots was that police had shot & killed a man. My question is Why? Was there a stand-off? Was this guy a popular person? Or did the youth of England simply choose this incident as a reason to go wild?

  • How to cook fresh tuna steaks?

I'm planning on cooking tuna steaks for the first time. I've found that most people leave the center of the steak rare, but is there any harm to the flavor or the texture if it is cooked throughout? I don't mind medium rare in a beef steak, but I don't know if I can eat it like that when it comes to fish. Any thoughts or suggestions? (if you have a recipe - feel free to share. I need ideas) Thanks.

  • Why do people who cause vehicle accidents...?

Why do people who cause vehicle accidents (like, cars & trucks etc) are not the ones who die? Why do the victims end up being the dead ones? Doesn't seem fair. I know - "life isn't fair". This time around, that is not an acceptable answer, so let's come up with something constructive - k?

  • What would you do in this situation?

Last night, I had my dog out in my backyard on a leash, waiting for her to "relieve" herself. All of a sudden, the pit bull from next door came running into my yard and attacked my dog. I tried kicking the pit bull, was yelling for help and for the neighbor to come and get their dog. I got a piece of a 2x4 and was hitting the pit bull with it - and even broke it. Nothing stopped this beast. When I looked over at where the dog came into my yard, there was a teenage girl whose father owns the pit bull just watching. After a couple more minutes, the guy next door came and got the dog.

This is the 2nd time this has happened. The first time was at 3 am, but he didn't cause any hurt to my dog - just scared her and I was able to pull the pit bull off my dog because he was still attached to the chain. This time, he wasn't attatched - he was on the loose.

Once I got my dog in the house, I called the cops & filed a complaint. The cop wrote the guy a ticket because of not having the dog on a leash, but the guy was also arrested on the spot for "unrelated" charges. Once I got back into the house, I discovered that my dog now has a hole in her back leg that I can stick the tip of my pinkie finger into. I'm looking to see if I can find some animal emergency service in the area and maybe get my dog to them, but more than anyting, I want my neighbor to get rid of that pit bull. Thankfully, the wound is not bleeding, and I have been keeping it as clean as I can and using some anti-biotic ointment to help fight any possible infection. But she can barely walk at the moment and is terrified to go outside.

I live on a street where there are a number of small children. It doesn't take much thought to go from that pit bull attacking my dog, to it attacking some of these kids.

Would you take action? If so, what woudl you do?

  • Have you ever wondered why homosexuality exists?

Seriously - have you? I personally think that homosexuality exists as God's way of controlling the world population. Here's why: God is perfect - right? So how can He be against it? Not only that, but if everyone in the world since time began were str8, there would be no open land left by now......think about it & let me know what YOU think.

NOTE: THIS IS NOT ASKED IN ORDER TO START AN ARGUMENT, SO PLEASE ANSWER INTELLIGENTLY.

  • Engine running rough - 2001 Kia Optima?

Can anyone help me understand what happened? I filled my gas tank (from 1/4 full) the other day but the pump didn't shut off when the tank was full, and ended up overflowing. Now my engine is running really rough. Could it be because the tank was overfilled? Or could there be water in the gas? I added a bottle of Gas Line antifreeze to try drying up the water, and ran the engine for a while and while idling, it seemed to smooth out. I took it out on the road today but it is still very rough on acceleration. Any help or insight you could give in your answer would be greatly appreciated....thanks in advance. I just don't want to bring it to a mechanic if it is something I can correct here at home. Please keep in mind that I'm not automotive-savvy. Thank you.
