A great book: "Jump Start Your Metabolism: How to Lose Weight by Changing the Way You Breathe," by Pam Grout. The title says it all.

Instead of torturing yourself with a diet mentality (one that is obsessively concerned with what goes into your body), focus instead on the other half of the equation (how your body eliminates fat, toxins and weight through metabolism).

As Pam would say, you don't have a weight problem. You have a breathing problem.

I've been doing the simple breathing exercises for the past two weeks and have already effortlessly shed weight. Learning to breathe properly increases your capacity to burn calories more efficiently while feeling more energized and less stressed.

Excessive worry about food, diets and exercise can actually inhibit your ability to lose weight. I suggest that you learn to rehabilitate your metabolism and rehabilitate your relationship with food and your body.

You can read more about how I changed my relationship with food here:

Go to your doctor again to rule out any underlying medical condition.

Take a complete break from dieting (at least two weeks) to allow your body to regroup.

When you resume dieting, make sure your activity levels match your caloric intake. So if you work out more, eat more (yes more). If you work out less, eat less.

Too much exercise combined with inadequate nourishment equals the scale not going where you want it to.

When you resume dieting, keep an accurate record of your workouts (ie duration, type, days done etc). And keep an accurate record of every morsel of food or drink that passes your lips (amount, total calories, total fat). Take at least one week's worth of this information and repost a question about whether your food intake is suitable for your activity level.

If you do all this, please keep me posted and I will offer you feedback.

    All the best

PS What did your SW person say when you brought this issue up?

Source(s): Lost forty two pounds in twenty three weeks and it's still off months later.

Try the Rosemary Conley Diet & Fitness Club - this Does work if you follow it.

You can go on line - www.rosemaryconley.com and www.rosemaryconley.tv

Also the magazine is really good - lots of motivational stories and calorie counted recipes.

Try keeping a diet and exercise diary.

Write down everything you eat and drink as you do it then the amount of exercise you have taken.

You might need to check your portion sizes or the fat and sugar content.

Are you drinking lots of water and herbal teas or lots of alcohol?

If you follow a low fat, low sugar, calorie controlled diet and get more exercise - it WILL work.

    Good Luck

First thing you do not need to diet you need to eat differently. When you say diet you will fail, but if you start eating healthy the weight will come off. Start cutting the fat out of your diet. It is really not that hard to do. When you shop buy fat free or low fat products. Also set your mind as not that I can't have this, but how can I make it healthy and low fat. Replace as many ingredients with fat free as you can. Just by doing this you will lose weight. And do not worry about being over weight, woory makes it harder to lose weight.

East five or six smaller meals or snacks daily. Eat less but more reguarily to keep your metabolism going. Stephanie Karl, nutritionist at the Dubai London Clinic, says, “It’s critical you can eat smaller amounts more often. In this way you avoid raising your blood glucose levels into the fat storage zone, which is actually caused by way of a surge of insulin usually by carbohydrate foods, caffeine and synthetic sweeteners. ”

Skip ordering pizza and make one of these simple crusts at home: gluten-free sweet potato crust, a quinoa basil crust that's also gluten free, or this low-carb cauliflower crusting.

Make 150-calorie nonperishable snack packs and keep in your purse, gym bag, and office drawer. Nuts really are a great option since they retain you fuller longer and improve your metabolism.
