If I'm getting an iPhone is it better to get 3G or 4G and is 4G 8GB OK ?

I have an Apple $199 gift certificate and I'm told to go for the 4G and my certificate will allow me to get a 16GB model. I can't really afford to dig up another hundred for the 32MB ... what is the difference. I'm told that 4G is better b/c its upgraded and all the bugs are out of the 4G. Others seem to think 3G is OK ... anyone experienced is welcome to comment. I need everyone's help but only those who are in the know, pref with lots of knowledge on the subject.

Thanks everyone.

There's no such thing as an iPhone 4g. It's an iPhone 4.

Since Apple no longer sells the 3g, you have only the 3gs and 4 to choose from. The iPhone 4 is the better phone. 16gb is plenty of memory.

Assuming that you mean the iPhone 4 and the still current iPhone 3GS, there are a substantial number of differences between the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 3GS in design, display, capability, performance, battery life and more. There is not an iPhone 4G and the iPhone line does not support 4G wireless networking. There is an earlier iPhone 3G but it has been discontinued.

Regardless, for most users, the iPhone 4 is significantly "better," but an independent comparison can be useful for you to decide whether the lower upfront price of the iPhone 3GS is more important than the other differences:

Whether or not 8 GB of storage is "okay" for you depends on how much "stuff" (apps, music, photos, videos, etc) you intend to store on the device.

    Hope this helps!

    3G is definitely not okay

    3GS is okay

iPhone 4 is perfect with retina display, 512mb ram, 5mp camera, 1GHz CPU

And there is no 8GB iPhone 4

Lowest available is 32GB and 64GB
