What is soft reset and how will it affect my game?

I want to catch shiny legendaries in heart gold so I need to know:

What is soft reset?

How do I do it?

Will it harm my DS or my game?

    Soft reset is a computer term, refers to restart the computer (in your case ds) using the software. Hard reset uses the hardware, usually a button, to restart the computer. Both can potentially erase all info on your DS, but it wont harm it.
