I leant my laptop to my cousin because i was having problems getting certain programs to work. He is a computer technician and when he gave it back all the problems were resolved however he told my that he turned off autoplay as it is considered by some to be a security risk and said that it can be reactivated through the control panel.

Here are the questions i have:

1. What is autoplay, what does it do, and is it safe?

2. Will turning autoplay off affect the ability of installed programs to update themselves? The main one i am concerned about is HP Support Assistant as it updated itself around this time last year.

3. If i have to turn it back on what is the easiest way to do so? I am assuming i can do so through the control panel like he said, is this correct?

Please explain in laymen's terms as i no next to nothing about computers.

Just out of curiosity what would clicking or double clicking on a process in task manager do?

I ask because i accidentally clicked on this site while looking for info on chrome ( i jumped the gun and mistook it for a link leading to the chrome section on google's site).

Do the internet options under Control Panel > Network and Internet only apply to Internet Explorer?

I need to know specifically what it will do and in layman's terms as i am not to handy with computers. Will it in anyway affect my ability to you view youtube videos or play flash games? Will it affect the way flash is displayed on web pages?

I ask because i am paraniod about getting viruses. I was doing a video search on Bing and i accidentally clicked on a video and it took me to a preview page. I would like to know if i should be worried or not. Also are the previews on the results page safe as well?

Last week i dropped my laptop off at Office Depot to have it checked for Spyware (specifically Keyloggers), Adware, and Malware. They told me it was clean but i am still a bit paraniod. I would like to know how to tell if i have a keylogger ( both illegitimate and commercial) and how to remove them if need be.

A few weeks ago i downloaded Adwcleaner from Bleeping Computer and since then i have been paraniod about viruses. Also what are the chances that i may have inadvertently downloaded a keylogger (either legitimate or commercial) with the Adwcleaner file from Bleeping computer?

How can i tell if i downloaded a keylogger?

Can commercial keyloggers be bundled with files from file sharing sites?

Does any one know? I asked because when i dropped my laptop off to get it checked they told me that they checked for keyloggers and didn't find anything but they didn't say whether they checked for legitimate or illegitimate keyloggers.

By that i mean the thumbnails displayed on the results page. I ask because i am constantly using Yahoo images to find images to you for blog posts and am paranoid about viruses so i want to know if it is possible to get one simply from viewing the thumbnails but not clicking on the images. ( i hope that made sense.)

My old computer was infected with the delta search toolbar and i had to get a new harddrive, I went to best buy and had them transfer data over to the new harddrive. Will checking to make sure everything was transfered i came across these.

I downloaded Adwcleaner from Bleeping Computer.com but i am paranoid about malware, The only way i can get infected is if i allow the program to run, correct?

I am a huge anime fan and have been watching anime the entire summer. The only problem is that now I out of anime to watch. I'll watch any anime with sword fights and anything that is an ecchi.
