Is the Irish Culture considered a Subculture in the United States?

I have a sociology paper due wednesday and he said to pick any subcultures in which you live and interact with. I do irish step dancing and i know alot about the culture. So i was wondering if it was considered a subculture. If it is i need to find the norms, is it a folkway or a more how is culture changing and what are some symbols associated with this culture

Thanks in advanced!

I would say yes. We are definitely a group of our own, Irish immigrants were really the first ethnic group to start the street gang culture back in the 1840's ( Because they were poor immigrants). I don't think the step dancing is really popular in the Irish american culture any more.

I would talk about Irish gangs. That is a subculture 4 sure I think. Or talk about Irish immigrants in general
