They had to put a business plan in front of the AFL to be even considered, the AFL are a pretty shrewd bunch, and if that business plan had any faults then they would not have allowed the franchise to go ahead. The AFL are giving them salary cap concessions to help get them on their feet, and are giving them a hand financially. However, they still must prove to the AFL that they would have the ability to stand alone in a certain time frame. Cheers.

It's a joke how much of a head start they have been given. They get to poach the best player in the comp, as well as handy players like Campbell Brown and Rischitelli; then they get not just pick number one, but number 3 and I think two or three more first round picks. Then to pay for Ablett they get concessions in the draft. God help Victorian strugglers like North and the Bulldogs. This is what you get when our game becomes a cash cow for greedy corporates.

They have been given a huge amount of money from the AFL, Sponsors, the government and their support base which is steadily growing. Every team has to start from somewhere. If they cant string wins together, they are in big trouble like any other team who can't string wins together. Don't expect them to string too many wins together in their first couple of years, its natural not to do well in the development stages.

there is an organisation called the AFL who have massive deep pockets and a very large cheque book where gold coast is concerned. to buy a premiership will not come cheap but the AFL seem determined to do so. i wonder if the second sydney side will recieve the same when their turn at the trough comes around.
