    It's a play on a popular old slogan, "If you're not outraged, you're not paying ATTENTION." This is updated to reflect the increasingly high tax burden on people who pay income tax and the continued record-setting trillions of dollars in government spending on credit.

    It means that 51% of the people in this country ( wage earners ) are paying for all the welfare benefits of the other 47% ( moochers ) in this country. Even with the EIC credit, those who don't or will not work get a tax refund ! It is high time to re-vamp the IRS and if you don't work, you dont eat ! I say we move to the flat tax system or consumer tax system !

  • Depends on when it was said...but the basic meaning is that taxes are too high, that the government is taking too much of our money and not giving us enough back for it.

    If said recently, it was said by someone not paying attention. According to treasury.gov, in the last 50 years (1960-2010) taxes on the middle and lower classes were lowest under Democrat John F. Kennedy, and second-lowest under Democrat Barack Obama. We are currently paying the second-lowest taxes in the last 50 years. If Republicans in Congress would stop blocking President Obama's economic plan, President Obama would take the record for the lowest tax rates during that time frame and we would, right now, be paying the lowest taxes in the last 50 years.

    The highest taxes on the middle and lower classes in American history were present under the Presidency of Republican Ronald Reagan.

    It means just what it says. If you are not outraged at the steam locomotive tax machine that YOUR president and YOUR Congress have fueled, then OBVIOUSLY you don't have to pay them.

    Don't worry, you're not alone. 47% of all Americans DON'T.

    Hell, look at this schmuck;

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101006/ap_o%E2%80%A6

    The couple said they need food-stamp benefits, which are electronically deposited onto debit cards, because his job as a restaurant server doesn't quite cover expenses for their five children.

    Look, I understand if someone is having a hard time. But isn't this more of a "why did you have FIVE CHILDREN" issue more than a "you're just down on your luck"?

    So..............I'm...............payi… taxes...........so...that...they.....can… get a THREE THOUSAND-SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLAR CREDIT.......PER CHILD.....and collect food stamps?

    He...gets a $25,550 credit on his taxes AND gets foods stamps?

    I don't even think "restaurant server" pays 25k a year.

    You think that maybe he's one of the 47% that pay NO income taxes?

    Implying that the only people who are for more taxes are those on welfare who pay no taxes anyways.

    You only be mad if you are dumb enough to work for a living.
