Teenagers do you consider spanking on the bare bottom to be child abuse?

I don't think its child abuse, (unless you leave alot of bruises) because thats the way i was raised i use to get my butt whooped.

There is a difference between spanking and beating. I say a spanking is just discipline while beating is abuse.

Abuse is when you have malicious intent or if you hurt your child in a way that still hurts a long while later.

A spanking hurts for a minute but it hurts their pride more. A beating hurts and keeps hurting.

It' definitely not child abuse, as long as it isn't too vicious, and it is used for the right purpose. However, I don;t think it is a good way to discipline because it may hurt for a minute but then your over it. I used to have to write a 1 page letter about what I did wrong and then no TV, phone, dadadada...

It is discipline, but after a certain age it becomes a major invasion of privacy, and after more then 4 hits, then it is abuse (to me anyway).

Its not abuse because most of the time, the child did something wrong to deserve it. But like i said, after a couple hits, then it is abuse.

It's not child abuse, but I don't agree with it. I'm glad I'm not spanked that way, it's probably super embarrassing.

I find spanking with clothes on perfectly acceptable, even with a belt, that is how I have always been spanked.

It depends how hard it hit. Like if it leaves marks i think thats a little much. But if its just a pat on the butt then I dont think thats bad.

I don't think so inless you do it so hard that they bleed.

No. However when I grow up, I won't spank my children. I was spanked as a kid and it did nothing but cause emotional hurt for me. I know that all kids are different, and sometimes spanking is effective, but for me it wasn't so I won't do it to my kids.

Definitely not abuse. It combines the safest and most effective ways to spank.

Yes I consider it abuse. I believe that I can solve any issue I am having with my children without physically hurting them.
