my 5 week old cannot get enough to eat. i feed her 4 oz, a half hour later she screaming . Binky not working.?

Its like she is never satisfied. I feed her again and she only takes a sip and then she's out like a light. Its very frustrating because i know shes exhausted and i can not soothe her.. Then, in a half hour she wakes up screaming like i never fed her...I don't want to over feed her. what do i do?

in a half hour, she would be hungry again..esp if she fell asleep quickly..

she is cluster feeding...typical for a newborn..Her tummy is very small, so she can only take in a small bit,..but she digests it quickly..and needs more food.

You can not over feed a baby, they will not eat unless they are hungry..there is no reason to withhold feedings..that is actually starving her.

I would strongly recommend you reading on new Born's, and babies...the book, "What to expect the first year" will answer alot of questions for you..and concerns.

You say she had a sip and then she went back to sleep. If she was hungry she would be drinking more are you sure she is hungry? Try putting some milk on her dummy and see if she will take it i think she just wants something to suck on for comfort and you may be mistaking this for her wanting a feed. Also you cannot over feed a baby they will stop when they have had enough.
