I wouldn't mind if they did, but there's almost no chance of that happening (unless Brett Favre gets suspended).
I think T-Jack has gotten a bad rap, and it's unfair. In 2008 he led the team to the playoffs and had a 95.4 QB rating (and that was for a team that didn't have Randy Moss or Percy Harvin). He has a pretty strong arm, and he's mobile in the pocket.
I always knew that Favre was an all-or-nothing QB. He'll make great plays, or he'll throw interceptions. So his turnovers don't bother me too much. But I lost a lot of respect for him last week when his actions in New York were revealed. I don't feel good about rooting for this guy anymore.
So I'd be perfectly happy if the Vikings started Jackson, but it's just not likely to happen.

ive been a vikings fan forever and trust me when i say Tarvaris Jackson has no upside, cannot play in the national football league and should have been cut 2 years ago when we started Gus Frerotte over him.
he is just a terrible QB with no accuracy and who can do absolutely nothing against a good D... he can put up numbers against bad d's but if you have seen him against a good D he gets about 150 yards and maybe 1 TD 1 Int.
His preseason numbers were astoundingly bad and he should have been cut. He wouldnt and shouldn't even start for the Cleveland Browns.
If you want a good reference material for why he shouldn't start go watch the Philadelphia Eagles playoff game that took place in Jan 09. Its his most recent game he started for the Vikings and he was absolutely atrocious.

I believe Favre is injured much more than he lets on and I think it is unequivocally the reason for the errant throws especially in the 4th when he missed Harvin all those times. Since I believe this is true, I actually would welcome the thought of Jackson playing in the game. I do want to be clear that this isn't a "bench Favre he sucks" comment but a comment that if he is hurt badly he is holding the team back. When Favre gets it going he is by far the best they have and should rightfully be the starter - no doubt about it.
Until T-Jack proves himself there is always doubt about him but you cannot tell me that he hasn't learned alot over the last couple years of limited playing time. He should be two or three times the quarterback that he was when he last was the regular starter in 2007. He actually hasn't played that badly (minus the vs. Eagles playoff game) since. In 08 he had a 95.4 QB rating and 9 TD's with only 2 Int's in 9 games and last year granted he didn't play much but when he did he certainly didn't screw anything up as he didn't throw any interceptions or lose any fumbles. He even showed some accuracy at all levels - something that he hadn't in 07. I also think we have to note that the guy can run the football too and that can be a weapon in itself.
None of this is going to happen anyway. The Vikings and Favre will not ruin his streak and I believe the offense will start to get better. We have to remember they played the Jets and I don't see anyone in their schedule giving them more trouble defensively especially against the rush than the Jets did. Hopefully we see an increase in offensive productivity against these weaker defenses going forward.
@ locloc08 actually you could argue either. Frerotte started more games but Jackson began and finished the year as starter (took over as starter in week 14 and led them to a 3-1 record to finish the regular season) as well as he was the playoff starter. So I would say he literally was the one that "led them into the playoffs." To me you can't really say Frerotte led them into the playoffs if he wasn't on the field in the weeks leading up to and during the playoffs.

The Vikings are 1-3. Good thing they went down to Mississippi to get Favre. With Tarvaris Jackson they'd only be 1-3.

@locloc
Frerotte didnt lead anything. A passer rating of 73.7 and 12 tds to 15 ints over 11 games? I dont care what his record was, Adrian Peterson and an easy schedule are what got those 8 wins. Frerotte barely managed games.

Seriously, I actually think that Tavaris Jackson can play better than Brett Favre this season

No, cuz the Cowboys have a better chance of winning with Britt Farve !

@ Nate:
T-Jack did not lead the Vikings to the playoffs in 2008. Gus Ferrotte did.

I want to say no, but if Favre Elbow still hurt, well then we dont have a choice but to play T-Jack. I trust T-Jack to play well

No you need to let Brett "The Sexual Harrasser" Favruh start. It's important for him not to be home with his wife who survived cancer so he can keep pretending that he still has it.
