Would you want your team to take a chance on Shawne Merriman?

He's about to be released by the Chargers, and though a pretty big part of me thinks that he's pretty much done it would be the definition of a low risk-high reward move for my Jets to pick him up.

Obviously this question isn't very relevant to fans of teams that run a 4-3, but 3-4 a team in desperate need of a pass rusher with a coach that thinks he could coach him back up to being anywhere close to the elite player he was before the roids and injuries wouldn't be dumb for taking a chance on him.

Maybe at the vet minimum as a rotational player for depth. He cant stay healthy so you really can't put him in a role where you need to rely on him.

I would agree. It does seem like a pretty low risk high potential for reward situation provided he lands on the right team. I don't think he will reach the level that he once did but certainly I believe he has value in at least a pass rush capacity. Just look at the last low risk high reward move the Jets made after the Chargers dumped...that one seems to be looking as Rex himself would say "pretty f-ing good". On my team I would say pass only for the very reason you listed (4-3).

The Packers could take him, Brad Jones just doesn't get it done. And if Barnett is out for the season, it would't be a bad idea to have somebody else with significant experience on the LB corps.

ensure you have a minimum of a sort of three gamers interior the team. Fabregas, Torress, Ronaldo. 3 vast contenders. then constantly chosen gamers that are possibly no longer the appropriate, yet are the underdogs. those look to constantly paintings properly in tournaments like this. Its constantly an underdog day in tournaments. Take Greece, they must have went out interior the gang tiers, yet they went directly to win the journey. yet ensure you hav some particularly recognisable gamers, like the three i discussed above. uncertain if it rather is any help, if no longer, sorry.

    NO way.

Merriman might still be talented, but he has some baggage. I don't want any players on my team who have been arrested for assault and false imprisonment!

The Vikings have enough troublemakers as it is.

He sounds like potential for teams like:

    Lions

    Browns

    Bucs

    Bills

    Seahawks

    Redskins

    Texans

    Jaguars

The Lions could use a good linebacker.

  • Not my team. But the Bills need him. XD
