How can I dye a polyester tutu?

I need to dye my white tutu pink by next week, and I know polyester is hard to dye.

So does anyone know a way I can dye it?

It doesn't have to be permanent since I'm only going to wear it once.

Would food coloring work?

Thanks. (:

Are you absolutely certain it is poly? Most net and tulle is nylon and nylon takes dye.

food coloring would work, but only pure coloring, which is very expensive. go to the local grocery and get a little box of rit dye, about 3 dollars. dye the polyester for a good 3 hour soak, or longer. that should just about do it.

it's going to be hard to go from a dark to a light color... i would get some Rit dye at a craft store. Try a white dye or a lightener and then use the color you actually want. Don't jsut soak it in bleach because bleach will eat away at the fabric. someone at the craft store might be able to help.
