Mommies!! What is essential for YOUR diaper bag?

I recently got my bfp! So I've been wondering a lot about well, a lot! So, I have to ask, what are the essentials for your diaper bag?

Diapers, wipes, trash bags to throw poopy diapers in so you don't stink up someone else's garbage or house (they have cute little dispensers with a ducky on top that dispense small scented bags for just that purpose), two changes of clothes (yep, I've gone through both in one outing before), extra bib, a couple of small toys, bottle and formula - we use powdered formula and you can buy a little pie shaped container that can hold three separate formula "doses", spare pacifier, hand sanitizer, cheap thermometer (we keep our nice one in the house, and the cheap one in the diaper bag so if ever you're out and he's acting funny and feels hot, you don't have to wonder if he's running a fever). I'm probably forgetting something obvious, but that's all I can think of right now. :)

    Congrats on your BFP!!

I always keep a blanket, a burp cloth and a pacifier in the car seat with the kiddo at all times, so all I've ever needed out of my diaper bag while out on short trips is diapers, wipes, formula, a bottle, water and gas drops.I keep all that, a changing pad, a couple extra receiving blankets, a couple extra burp cloths, an extra outfit and an extra pacifier in there too, but I haven't needed them while I'm out a 5 or 6 hours... If I stay overnight somewhere, then it's different. What you need in there really depends on how long you'll be out and how messy your baby is.

    Interesting question :)

I always carried in my diaper bag an extra set of clothes, diapers and wipes, hand sanitizer, a couple little toys, and a jar of baby food and bib just in case we got stuck somewhere with no food. Sanitizing wipes are nice too.

    Congrats on the BFP.

Diapers of course, but also always a change of clothes (or two)!

Then snacks are a must for us. Usually I bring a little container of Cheerios with us just incase we are running late and she starts to get hungry.

    Wipes

    Bibs

    Her comfort blankie

A few of her favorite toys (and links to hang them on the stroller, cart, etc)

    Placemat

And although it doesn't fit in the diaper bag, my daughter has her own booster seat for restaurants or on the go feeding that we always take with us.

Now that she is 10 months I have a little diaper bag with just a couple diapers, 10 wipes, a couple toys and a change of clothes for short outings. But I bring her big diaper bag I used when she was little when we go out for the whole day. Its nice not to have to bring the whole big bag everywhere we go now!

I have a toddler (23 months) and in my diaper bag I carry:

    Diapers

    Wipes

    Changing pad

    Diaper rash ointment

    Extra change of clothes

    Personal spoon/fork for eating out

    Sippy cup

    toys

    snacks

When she was a newborn I carried the same, but instead of a sippy cup, I carried bottles and instead of snacks, Formula and baby food when she got old enough, and a bib.

I also carry hand sanitizer, Lysol wipes (travel pack) for wiping off changing stations, teething tablets, children's Motrin/Tylenol, thermometer, neosporin/band aids, and my personal items since I don't carry a purse anymore.

Extra set of clothes! Especially when they are infants....you never know when they are going to spit up on themselves or even worse have a leaky diaper.

Also, a spare pacifier. I always seemed to walk out of the house without one but luckily there would always be one in the diaper bag :)

I use cloth exclusively so my 'essentials' are slightly different.

    The obvious- nappies and wipes.

I have a wetbag (bag for storing used nappies and dirty clothes)

Change mat- I actually have a flip out mat built into my nappy bag.

paw paw ointment (rash ointment, doubles as lip balm)

change of clothes for my son.

cloth wipes- I don't trust the chemicals in disposables.

Organic sunscreen and insect repellent- in our climate you'd be an idiot not to have these (QLD Australia)

Some non essentials that I carry-

Soap, I don't trust sanitising gel completely so if I have water available I will use soap instead.

sanitising gel- for when there is no water.

sanitising wipes, seems kind of hypocritical seeing as I won't use disposable baby wipes!

Small can of WD40, if you don't know what that is it's a spray on lubricant to fix squeaky or sticking stroller wheels/ door hinges and whatever other noisy mechanical things that annoy me I encounter!

Plus all the normal garbage a woman has in her handbag!
