    Personally, I like Zim as well. Perhaps the less intelligent among us are attracted to GIRs non sequitur humor. Oh such fools they are. FOOLS I TELLS YOU!

    Because GIR is the "dumb guy" of the show. Most of what he says and does is all just for added comedic value. He makes people laugh and on top of that he has the cuteness factor slathered all over him. He is also very random, a trait many people would really want to possess.

    I also blame a good portion of GIR's immense popularity on Hot Topic.

    Gir lives in the moment. Gir gets the hot chicks at the raves. Gir loves tacos and burritos.
