Whoopie and Joy Behar Walk off Set due to Muslim statement?

So everyone is up in arms over the mosque in NY. I for one believe it should not be built. That's me. Whoopie and Joy walked off the stage after O'Reilly said that "Muslims killed us on 9/11."

What are your thoughts on the matter?

Update:

tokelover:

What about the rights of the families who lost their loved ones? What about respecting them as American citizens. What about Pearl Harbor? What if Hitler had done this do we build a monumental figure of Hitler in downtown NY? It's so INSANE to think America would build a mosque anywhere near Ground Zero! May as well build one in the front yard of each and every family member who lost someone on 9/11! Just makes no sense at all.

Why is everyone screaming religious freedoms when that's not what this is about. Why not stick to the issue at hand?

The rightful thing to do would be to build a MONUMENT to the Honor of all who perished on 9/11 and maybe even rebuild the twin towers. That would be a slap in their faces instead of our beloved fellow Americans. For shame to stand beside such an ignorant decision.

Support one another, love your enemies. Nowhere in the bible does it say to BUILD A MOSQUE on or near Ground Zero!

Update 2:

That's precisely my point. Everyone is making this a religious thing. It's not about religion at ALL.

It is about respecting American Citizens and the FAMILIES of those who PERISHED!

Update 3:

Many good points here. Thank you all for your input. Although no one hit it quite on the head there is a great mix in your responses.

Hard to choose a best answer however. I wish I could comprise a best answer from a select few. Thanks for lending your voice.

Update 4:

Although my point is about "not" building a mosque near ground zero or in NY at all. Since when do you reward bad behavior?!

I will have to go with "professional" or "unprofessional" to choose my best answer. Some of you were hard to read could be going either way and I just couldn't be sure.

Whoopi & Joy should not have walked off the set. If Bill walked off, they would have called him a coward. They should have stayed & defended their beliefs without getting hysterical. Did they really think Bill O'Reilly was going to come on the show & make uncontroversial comments?! Joy & Whoopi create a lot of controversy as well - they just don't like when someone opposes THEIR views and to them I say, "you just can't have it both ways, ladies!" If you dish it out, you have to be able to take it!!!

I don't really have an opinion. I'm Canadian, living very far away from the situation. I like Joy, I respect & like Whoopee as well. They are entitled to their opinions. So is Bill O'Reilly for that matter. So are Muslims.

As long as nothing infringes on the rights of others or is criminal...it should be allowed....BUT, I do have sympathy for those who are still grieving for their loved ones & think the folks who want to build could really extend an olive branch here by showing sensitivity & changing their minds.

Why shouldn't it be built? It's 4 blocks away and isn't even a proper mosque. If a McDonalds is built 2 blocks away is that making money out of the tragedy?

I once had a dump in a pub round the corner from Buckingham Palace, funnily enough I didn't get arrested for cra pping on the queen's pillow...because it was close, not actually on it!

I think it is disgusting for anyone to support building a mosque near the sites of the twin towers. Lest ir sounds like a rant, many governments throughout he world are too accepting of their actions and intolerance. Where is their, Whoopie and Joy's patriotism?

    1. O'Reilly is an entertainer, not a news commentator. He attracts the lowest common denominator.

    2. While the men who perpetuated the 9/11 atrocity were Muslims, their beliefs were far, far from the mainstream. O'Reilly paints with far too broad a brush.

    3. Good for Whoopi and Joy! An excellent way to show their opinion of O'Reilly and his idiocy.

I commend Whoopi and Joy for taking a stand on common decency.

    O'Reilly's statements weren't "Muslim," but strongly "anti-Muslim."

He and the other wingnuts want us to think we're at war with Muslims, instead of being at war with terrorists.

Thank God some people still support the U.S. Constitution, giving everyone a right to worship.

O'Reilly is full of crap about 70% of Americans not wanting it built. Perhaps 70% of HIS VIEWERS, but not anyone with a working brain.

Its not that simple. Its a matter of morals. If it were the KKK, westboro church or some other cult setting up close to ground zero people would be in outrage. It simply wouldnt be allowed. But b/c we have been drilled to "accept" all suddenly its ok. What happened to standing up for what is right. Things used to be black and white. Now everything is gray. Dont forget that muslims want to take over or destroy the western world which ever is more convenient.

  • All I can say is for you people that want to keep saying that it was muslim extremists and they have the right to do this and the right to do that, shame on you. You are sending our country to hell. God forbid, when those pigs attack us again, you will feel horrible for supporting them. How many times must they spit in our faces while you still suck up to them and be politically correct. F Muslims.

Was Bill on " The view" today? He often makes fun of Whoopie and Joy so it does not surprise me.

Whoopie and Joy live in their own little liberal world.

Just what faith did these two liberals think the 9/11 terrorists were?

I don't like "the view". Three liberal women against one conservative woman. A stacked program.

O'Reilly is an idiot. It is an idiotic show.

The building of the cultural center should not be stopped by any level of government. People are free to voice their displeasure in an attempt to influence the group building it, but action by any government entity would violate the priniciples our country was founded on and defended.
