i know how you feel. Half the walls in my house are made of cedar. and there are a LOT of wood spiders >.< but i live in florida and there are lots of daddy long legs here. I find them on the side of our house in clusters of like 50. every once and a while one will manage to get in the house. like the other posters said, their mouth is too small to bite so don`t freak out. they cant harm you. In fact, when I see em in the house, I pick them up by the leg and fling em outside. I think squishing anything is NASTY. it gets all their organs everywhere... even if it is microscopic.... ive stayed up in the middle of the night chasing spiders around with empty jars LOL.. and then i pour dish soap on them and watch them BURN... thats what those stupid wood spiders get for biting me >.> but anyway.. hope it answered your question.. & good luck on your `treasure hunt` haha

We keep daddy long legs as pets. They eat other spiders. We even name them. They're harmless to humans, so don't worry if that was a daddy long legs. It's ok to get creeped out by a spider crawling on you, the only ones I can tolerate on me are the little jumping spiders, because they're cute, and they jump away straight away.
And if you're worried about a possibly poisonous spider... come to Australia. Wolf spiders have a nasty bite, there's a redback plague in one state at the moment, funnelwebs in another area, trapdoor spider, whitetails that can also have a nasty bite, bird eating spiders, and the further up you go, the bigger they get. You soon learn: the bigger the spider, the more newspaper and fly spray needed. And the more antibacterial wipes to clean up with afterwards. If it didn't bite you, shake off the creepy feeling and be aware of what's around you. In summer, we don't go outside at night without a torch sweep first, lol.
And make sure if you have the normal daddy long legs spider, keep them around. They really work as a spider deterrant. And you eventually get used to them. They tend to keep away from people unless they want your attention to something, which one did with my husband to let us know a mouse had gotten onto the shelf above his desk.

Daddy long legs are NOT the most poisonous spider in the world. That is a bunch of crap. In fact, these spiders are totally harmless to humans. I see daddy long legs in my bedroom all the time, and yes, I sleep in there. I've even let one crawl on me a couple times. If they were so deadly to humans I'd be in the hospital by now. And am I? Nope, I am sitting in my house on the computer, and am perfectly healthy.

Lot of mis-information here. Daddy Long Leg Spiders, or cellar spiders, are NOT the most poisonous spider. They do have small jaws, but so do brown recluses. However daddy long leg spiders will not bite you, they are completely harmless to humans. They will raid other spiders nests to eat eggs and other spiders, so they actually work as a deterrent to other spiders.

Daddy Long Legs spiders are one of the most poisonous spiders around. However, no matter how much they scare the crap out of you (and me, I think I have arachnophobia) they have very tiny mouths. These mouths are so tiny that they can't bite.
Thank God they can't bite, right? Anyhow, perhaps an exterminator or possibly a fly swatter at every hook in the house could help.

Daddy long legs are poisonous but their mouths are to small to but us. It would be hart to tell what else it was without a picture so sorry i couldn't help any further. A way to "exterminate" it would be to either squish it, have someone else squish it or put it outside to eat other bugs.
