Why do convenience stores have ATMs?

Wondering if it is the product of some by-gone era when a lot of places would not accept credit/bank cards as payment, etc.

While that will eventually hold true, there are many people, more than you think who prefer to deal in cash and for them the ATM is convenient.

Many people who read horror stories about identity theft, or just want to touch their money are those who use the ATM's.

While it is true that most places take credit/bank cards, still, not all do and so it is good to have cash for those times.

Nothing sucks worse than standing in line at a store and discovering that you don't get to buy anything because you don't have the accepted currency there.

Because it's convenient. Who do you know that doesn't shop at a convenience store, at least once and a while? Also there is a real good chance that you will buy something at the store while you are there getting money.

Yes you're right, because banks would put them all over so people could take money out. Debit cards have only really been around since 1995.
