Nicknames for Amelia?
I love the name Amelia but I feel the nickname Amy is too common and takes away from the name. I much prefer Mia, though this wouldn't go with my two others name, Maddy and Freddy. Help?!

My favorite nickname for Amelia is Milly.
Maddy, Freddy, and Milly works perfectly!
Other possible nicknames could be...Amy, Mia, Lia, Mel, Melia, Ellie, Mimi.

you're right about using Amy as a nickname. besides that it is too common, its kinda boring (no offense to any Amy's that happen to read this) my soon-to-be sister-in-law's full first name is Permelia. For short everyone calls her Lia. Her name and the name Amelia are very similar in that the last 5 letters are exactly the same. That name with other spellings (Leah, Lea, or Leigha) may seem kind of common but the spelling of the nickname Lia is what stands it out from the others. And since everyone that knows you will know you chose Amelia, when you call her Lia for short, I'm sure they'll catch on to the spelling and see that its actually pretty original. Hope this helps :)
P.S The name Amelia is a very beautiful name. and as far as I know its pretty original. Well considering the only other person I've ever seen with that name was Amelia Earhart...and that is one of the many women in history that it'd be an honor to share a name with.
P.S.S Don't forget you also have to consider what "other" nicknames can be made out of the one u pick. Just for example Melly will eventually turn into Smelly Melly...just saying...its something to think about

Mia
Lia (Leah if you want to change spelling)
Lee
If you want to change the sounds but stick to the extracts from the name:
a"Mel"ia (Mel)
am"Eli"a (Eli can have two pronuciations: typical Ally or E-Li...)
Or something along the lines of edie (pronounced E - D)
Hope that was helpful :)
