Should I leave my dog's harness on instead?

I have a Bloodhound with a neck injury (yes she's being treated!). She cannot wear a collar and leash because the pressure on her neck could cause paralysis. Currently we live so far out in the country that anyone who would find her knows who she is, but we are moving. She has never escaped and the new yard is secure, but I just don't feel right not having any ID on her. She is microchipped, but if someone found her they may not check that. I just don't know what to do. If I use a collar I am worried someone might try to pull or drag her by it (the pressure from a collar makes her fall down). Her harness might rub if she wore it all the time, or get caught on something.

Update:

She's an indoor/outdoor dog. She comes and goes as she pleases during the day through her doggy door, and sleeps inside at night.

Update 2:

Thanks for your help guys. Thankfully she's in no pain and is doing a lot better than she was when she was first diagnosed. She has Wobbler's syndrome, the vertebrae in her neck put pressure on her spinal cord so sometimes her brain doesn't know what her feet are doing. She has acupuncture and its made all the difference.

during the day when the doggie door is open harness on with tag information. when she is in for the night take the harness off. Look for harness's that have sheep skin or lambs wool liners. They will cause less friction.Hope she gets better soon.

The harness shouldn't be a problem. If you're worried, or if it seems to be chafing after a day or two, put some padding on it. Good luck with the injury - sounds painful.

Is there any way you can put the harness on her just while she's outside and take it off when you bring her inside. Or if she is only an outside dog perhaps you can take it off of her and stay outside and sit for a while with her.

If you are reasonably careful, she won't get loose or lost. Left on her, the harness will rub patches of her fur off and she could get a leg stuck in it, perhaps while scratching or chasing something, and hurt herself badly. I'd take my chances with a collar.

I used to keep a harness on my dog all the time, and our back yard was just a peice of woodland. Her harness never got caught on anything. as long as its fitted correctly it shouldnt rub

A harness would be the best thing.

My pug wore his all the time and he never got bald patches. but if you're worried about it block the dog door at night and take it off.
