a site about Scientology?

I am trying to write a paper about Scientology, but unfortunately I seem to only be able to find sites condemning Scientology or trying to convert me. Can anyone link me to a mostly unbiased site? As long as the site is somewhat credible I can use it {i.e no Wikipedia} Please and Thank you

The Official Scientology site has very detailed data about all aspects of the religion

    http://www.scientology.org/

    you'll also find data here:

@ Pagan Born......I am not familiar with www.religioustolerance.org and it is possible that they are non-biased on other religions, but their "facts" with regards to Scientology are complete lies. Either they are a Scientology Front Group or they just accepted those figures from a Scientologist with absolutely zero verification.

One of the statements made on that website says:

"The total number of Scientologists in the world is extremely difficult to estimate, for a variety of reasons. Estimates range from 100 thousand to 10 million."

First of all, it is NOT "extremely difficult" to estimate the number of Scientologists in the world because the Church of Scientology keeps very precise statistics of all of it's members who are active with the organization as well as those who come in to buy a book or even the number of people who walk into one of their organizations. ALL scientology organizations report these (and more) precisely every single day to management, and this gets forwarded to International Management. I know this as I worked within this organization for many years.

The true number is far less than 100 thousand, this has now been confirmed by many former staff that worked at the highest levels with that organization. This includes Amy Scobee and Mike Rinder who worked on THE highest management body within the organization (the Watchdog Committee). It includes Mark Rathbun who is the former Inspector General for Ethics, RTC (Religious Technology Center), and many others who worked at the highest levels. Scientology has been contracting for close to 20 years now yet the official spokesmen will publicly state the exact opposite. Here is a page with a link to a radio interview done just within the past couple days with Mike Rinder where he discusses in detail the fraudulent numbers that this organization uses to make it appear that it is expanding. http://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2010/10/15/mike-r...

Anyone who wants to write a paper on scientology I would recommend reading Jeff Hawkins new book "Counterfeit Dreams". Jeff was their top marketing guy in the 1980's and was instrumental in driving the Dianetics book onto the Best Seller Lists for years.

If you are finding many sites condemning Scientology it is because there are now many thousands of former scientologists who have come forward and exposed the abuses and criminality of this cult.

'The government is urging councils across the country to stop giving hundreds of thousands of pounds in tax breaks to the Church of Scientology.

The communities secretary, Eric Pickles, said a majority of the public did not want the "controversial organisation" to be given the kind of favourable treatment usually reserved for charities and questioned this use of public money.

The church, which is not classed as a religion by the Charity Commission, was described as a cult by a high court judge in 1984.'

Not much help to you I'm afraid but I just wanted to share this good news. This cult shouldn't have any tax breaks anywhere in my opinion.

This song about Scientology should help.

And to write a paper you need both sides of the argument.

All unbiased sites would condemn it.

It's an evil cult created with one purpose - making money . Its effects on believers are destructive - Check out a partial list of victims: http://whatstheharm.net/scientology.html

    Please read about:

    * Its blatantly illegal and immoral activities, as illustrated by Operation Snow White and Operation Freakout.

    * Its "fair game" policy of harassing and destroying critics, as illustrated by the stories of Keith Henson, Frank Oliver and Paulette Cooper

    * Its fatal abuse of its members, including Lisa McPherson, Heribert Pfaff, Josephus Havenith, and others

    * Its brutal, illegal treatment of members who the Church considers in need of rehabilitation or punishment using private prisons

    * Its tax-exempt status in the United States, which was gained by blackmailing the IRS

    * Its practice of breaking up families

Read "the road to xenu" for an account of a girl who escaped scientology after 12 years! http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/Library/Shelf/xenu/

The cult's core belief is that we are all reincarnated aliens, and all of our problems are because of other alien souls haunting our bodies. That's the big secret - but it's only revealed to scientologists after many years and over $300,000 - so most of them have no knowledge of it. Read the alien story yourself - in Hubbard's own handwriting: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/OTIII/

Everything about scientology is dishonest, from recruiting gullible folk using fake "personality tests", through collecting dirt on individuals using "auditing" in case they ever want to leave, to claiming everybody who criticizes them is a criminal, probably a child molester.
