prop selection help.......?
does anybody know of a prop selector tool, such as mercurymarine.com's, that covers 2011 mercury outboards (60hp 4 stroke, not big foot, 60elpt-efi)?
16' alum hull, i had a brand new 11" pitch black max laying around that is on it now, redlining before throttle is full. i'm thinking i need to drop the rpms at least 1,000, so at WOT i'm running low 5's before trimming.
i'm thinking a 15" pitch minimum, but i would really like to be able to use a prop selector tool before spending the money and finding out i should of gone with a 16 or 17 pitch.
BTW, i am aware of the performance benefits a stainless would give me, for the price i'd rather have a high pitched black max.
quicksilver props, are they the same as merc props?
i'm currently able to peg the tach at 6,000 with less then full throttle, and with motor fully trimmed down.
since the computer wont let it go past 6,200, there is no difference between 3/4 and full throttle.
which is why i'm thinking of going as far as 15" pitch.
i knew quicksilver was the exact same as merc when dealing with filters or gaskets, had not previously known there was quicksilver props.....
as is, it is still very much moving that boat, went froma 35 hp crank rated to a 60 hp prop rated.
i have my 1st ever mercury complaint, that i am not out on the water right now using it.

can't help with a site - but I have the same motor (2009) - new this year - running with a 10.75 x 13 pitch merc prop. Also on an alum hull - 16' 6" lund full console
max rpms on the motor is 6000
mine doesn't over-rev - gets up on plane fast (unless I'm stern heavy)
15 pitch seems a bit too much to me.
